LePennyJ Ceramics creations are unique pottery pieces made in Alexandria, VA using a combination of techniques, wheel-throwing and hand-building, and a variety of clay bodies including porcelain and stoneware. Most works are functional and versatile, food-safe, and very modern kitchen friendly.

I spent a long time working in telecommunications and when my daughter was born, I went looking for something that wasn't "work work" and wasn't "baby" - that was 10 years ago. A lot has changed since then, but pottery was where I found both a creative outlet and tool for recharging. Running, yoga and traveling are some of my other passions - I sometimes joke that I must think with my hands and feet as my best thinking is often done in the studio, on a trail, on my mat or exploring a foreign land (even if it's just down the street),

Over these 10 years, life has often taken me in different directions for a while but I always come back to creating through throwing on a wheel - fun fact, I love standing up to throw pots - or rolling out slabs for hand built works.

I'm working on lots of new things and will be adding works as completed in the coming weeks. I'm always open to custom requests too!
