Turquoise, Native American Way of Life, French chic, and Art history: it is all me!
Laurence Dusaulx, a French native from Normandy, settled in Texas in 1998 after traveling extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She has been attracted to crafts since her teenage years, constructing dolls out of fabric, making pottery, enameling and painting on all surfaces. While attending University at Caen, she took Art History classes as part of her academic studies. She was granted a Master’s in Education few years later. Laurence had several painting exhibitions in Normandy related to WWII: black and white paintings inspired by D-Day June ‘44. Laurence also worked as the Assistant curator and artist for the museum in Quinéville (Normandy, next to Utah Beach).
Wanting to try something new and creative, she now designs and handcrafts her own line of jewelry. Her love of nature and turquoise has led to the creation of some very personal pieces. After working with silver, and still doing it occasionally, she ventured with a new medium: Japanese seed beads. Bead embroidery led her to endless creative pieces.
The most recent collection is a wide variety of collars and cuffs using turquoise (mainly originating from the States) embellished with Japanese seed beads, and complemented by gemstones and Swarovski crystals in outstanding designs. Every piece is hand fabricated by herself in her studio in Houston, no mass production, just one artist’s unique work, one bead at a time.
Laurence also works with leather: from business card cases, wallets, folders, and small purses, she tools, dyes, and designs everything. The most recent collection being baby & toddlers shoes.
Still exploring new materials, Laurence is now also creating accessories, wearable and wool sculptures. Visit my Instagram/ldusaulx
Laurence Dusaulx often travels to New Mexico to collect unusual turquoise stones and absorb the feeling of the Southwest. In addition to her jewelry-making, she loves to work out, does extensive bike riding in Texas, loves making Japanese or ethnological- inspired quilts, teaches French, and is a freelance fashion-image consultant.
Laurence Dusaulx belongs to the Houston Beads Society.

All my pieces are handcrafted, one bead at a time, one stitch at a time. It takes several weeks to complete a piece. I never make the same one twice, but if you would like something similar to any of my sold items, please contact me.
