I love my print! It sits in a rustic frame on my desk at work and offering me inspiration. the shipping was delayed because of the huge snowstorm, but the seller kept me posted on everything, and it came in perfect condition!

About

Letterpress!

The origin of letterpress printing is usually attributed to Johannes Gutenberg, who invented the printing press and movable type around 1440 AD. It remained the standard form of printing until the second half of the 20th century when new, cost-effective and speedier technology took over. Not too shabby for a German blacksmith!

Lennah Press is currently a two press shop, operating a Vandercook SP-15 circa 1962, and a Chandler and Price Pilot Press circa 1950. Each card, print and invitation that comes off of these presses is a one-of-a-kind beauty unmatched by any other printing process out there. If you’ve ever held a letterpress card in your hand, you immediately notice that it’s different than all other types of printing out there. The paper is made of luxuriously thick and soft cotton, and the printed type and images are actually pressed into the paper creating a tangible beauty that if you’re anything like me, you just can’t get out of your mind!

Everything printed by letterpress is hand-fed one sheet at a time in and out of the press by a detail-oriented often neurotically perfectionist printer (aka me) who ensures that every piece holds the proper impression, inking and alignment. A second color requires cleaning the first ink color off of the many rollers of the press, mixing and then applying the new ink color, realigning everything and once everything is perfect, hand feeding each sheet through the press again.

The result is unlike anything modern technology can produce today, which is what draws so many to letterpress printing.

LETTERPRESS DISCLAIMER
Letterpress is an antique art form, I believe the beauty of this handmade medium lies in its imperfection. You can expect slight variations in color and ink coverage from print to print and from your computer screen, as well as slight dings and inconsistencies.
