Handcrafted enamel and silver jewelry
Flush set stones in lunar inspired surfaces
Cast organics in recycled silver with 24k gold

NEW WORK
I've begun to learn the casting process. I have a new body of work that's lunar inspired. Working with seven years of sterling silver scraps, I am focusing on this work being mostly of recycled silver and moving in a more eco-friendly direction. I've taught myself recently to flush set and I am excited to combine it into this new line.

In addition, I've worked on another collection of work where I cast organic materials directly from nature (branches and blossoming buds) into sterling silver and delicately pressure weld 24k gold. Every piece in the "Stillness Collection" captures a moment of nature in silver and high karat gold.

I'm Sara, 20-year-old and fourth-year college student following my passion. I make each piece by hand in my studio on a tiny island off the coast of Massachusetts. I work with a small number of stone dealers to get high quality stones.

Currently, I am attending Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR working on a BFA in Craft and metals. If you're around Portland and would like to see or buy a piece in person, we can arrange it. I will be returning to Martha's Vineyard Memorial Day weekend to continue showing at the Vineyard Artisans Festival until Labor Day on Sundays and Thursdays 10-2 pm.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a convo or an email! Most pieces can be sized within a week and then shipped to you via priority mail. I am currently accepting custom orders. I would love to work with you one-on-one to pick out stones for flush setting to statement rings or create your vision in metal.

In the meantime, my work can be found in Citrine on Main Street, Vineyard Haven, MA.

My sculptural metalwork can be found on my website.

Ring arrived today, and I'm delighted beyond all expectations! Sara very patiently worked with me in customizing this design, and walked me through the merits of different band gauges, detail flourishes like 'granulations', and other ways of mixing & matching metals. The end result? Bezel molds around the sapphire as if it was *born* in it. Icing on the cake, is that this is a stone that *I* had selected & sent in, with no other duplicate in the world! Unique, timeless, and stunning.. Thank you again Sara. :o) Will definitely be back!

Thank you so much Sara, for your gorgeous Custom-creation! Yellow sapphire ring turned out perfectly in every way -- your Workmanship is so en point -- if I hadn't mailed you the stone myself, I'd even wonder if it was machine-cast. :-) You deftly mold, shape, and bend precious metals like the kid in _The Matrix_ a spoon. You're a Metal-whisperer.. a Magician from another world. Amazing job with this piece-- it's a bright, light, kaleidoscope of colors that I can't take my eyes off of.

Thank you Sara, for an absolutely *outstanding* first-time transaction! You've gained a HUGE fan. Ladies & Gentlemen - this is the time to start collecting LetItBe Jewelry, before Sara Thompson reaches the stratospheric echelons of Gurhan or Pomellato. I guarantee it, she WILL. This heavy and substantial creation is an absolutely exquisite Aquamarine-blue. A frosted quality that I could almost dive into. Although the stone is organic/ amorphously fluid in shape, Sara expertly worked the 18k bezel around it, without missing a single curve. Customer service is prompt and friendly - Professional, by even the most discerning standards. A soon-to-be-Huge, up-and-coming Artist to watch.

About

A dream slowly becoming a reality.

I started beading when I was 8. At 11, I move to a small island called Martha's Vineyard and started apprenticing for a bench jeweler. I learned how to make settings, polish, solder, and the in's and out's of a retail shop for a self employed artist.

In 2011 at 15, I had a brief introduction to enameling in high school. Afterwards, I began to explore and teach myself the world of enameling. Essentially, I began to paint with the glass enamel while it was molten to create the abstract designs. Then, I started in fuse my enameling and metalworking skills together.

In February, 2012, I finally open my etsy shop. I create every piece from start to finish, photograph, and list it on etsy single-handedly. A few months later, I graduate high school and became self-employed at the age of 16.

Today, I'm 19, a full-time, third year college student. My work has evolved to handcrafting every piece and having a separate branch of work where I work sculpturally. While working on my degree, I've learned a technique called casting. From this new technique, I've created two lines of work. One is series inspired by the lunar surface. Each piece is cast from scrap silver and texture by hand to each a lunar surface. Most pieces are then flush set with small faceted stones, like a rubies or sapphires. In the other line of work, I cast organic materials directly from nature (branches and blossoming buds) into sterling silver and delicately pressure weld 24k gold. Every piece in the "Stillness Collection" captures a moment of nature in silver and high karat gold.

The Minimalist Collection are pieces of sterling silver with one flush setting. It's the ring or cuff that you can wear everyday. Some have a little sparkle of color or a classic black and(or) white color of a conflict-free diamond. Each stone is 2mm in size (aquamarine; blue topaz; blue, pink, or yellow sapphire; ruby; amethyst; garnet; rhodolite garnet; tourmaline; .04ct SI1 white diamond; .04ct black diamond)

I am drawn to minimalism, but notably simplicity when I focus on my craft. In my sculptural work, I create pieces that focus on the interaction between the viewer and the piece--that moment when the viewer touches, plays, interacts, unlocks, flips over, or opens the piece. I work primarily as a silversmith and every aspect of the piece is intentional--the finish, the weight, the high quality of craftsmanship. More about this work can be found on my website.

I still enamel from time to time. I may focus on it again in the summer of 2016.

Other pieces in my shop use stones from a small number of well-respected and established stone dealers. They are a pleasure and a delight to see and pick first hands stones from them.

I show my work at the Vineyard Artisan Festivals on Martha's Vineyard in July and August on Sundays and Thursdays in addition to Memorial and Labor Day weekend.
