Your ideas put into art form by Me...
So I started this whole art shop thing kind of by accident. I have always loved crafts and have used any extra time I had home from college as my time to relax, craft, and completely "zone out". I always made my crafts for myself, friends, and family. I never even thought of selling it. However, having the amazingly supportive and business-savy father that I do, he said I would be silly not to share my gift with the world. I really wanted to do this but I didn't know when with all of the pressure around me to get "a real job/internship".
I got diagnosed with Lupus this past January (2012) after suffering a lot of pain and mysterious side effects. I somehow managed to finish my semester at school and come return home to my sweet home in Dallas for the summer. Upon arriving home, I took my art supplies back out as I always do, once I return home for any breaks and started crafting. I knew I was going to use this summer to try regain my strength, health, and try figure out the best way to get my Lupus under control. After applying for a few jobs, I came home and told my parents I really didn't think I could work this summer with my constant uncertainty of my health conditions, ability to move, very low functioning immune system and unanswered questions about my newly diagnosed disease.
To my surprise my dad didn't argue, but instead said get in the car as he took me to the art supply store and told me to get anything that I was inspired to make. After filling up the cart (two carts) with all the supplies I could possibly need to get started (YES, THIS IS ANY CRAFTER'S DREAM), the lady at the front rung me up and the overly expensive total guilted me but my dad smiled at me and said, "I'm not worried at all. You put so much love into all your art, that I have no question you will make back this money and you will pay me back."
This is the support that got me started. My dad reminded me of how happy and at peace I am while doing my art. It really takes my mind off of the unknown since my diagnosis. My art has shown me that nothing can get in the way of what I love and that is why I am so happy to share my gift with you all.
This has been the best summer job turned into full time thing anyone who loves crafts and art with such a passion like myself could wish for so I am totally blessed.
I thought Lupus was the end of everything I once loved such as running, being on the go with kids 24/7, and being constantly busy. However, those things I love are just on hold for now until I figure out what my body needs.
To show Lupus that it can't stop me, I have decided to donate 5% of all proceeds that I make to Lupus Research in hopes of finding a cure. I have decided to call this project "Art for Answers". (Thanks to my awesome sister for that name idea).
Anyways, enough about me!! I really hope you enjoy browsing my shop and I hope that you can enjoy the piece you purchase as much as I loved making it for you.
Owner, Maker, Designer
I could sit and craft all day long. However, I love to share what I make and I love to give the gift with love. I have to say that I personally love and take pride in every piece I make and I want to share that with others.
Everything in this shop has been handmade with love, time, and uniqueness!
NOTE TO BUYERS: Since every single Hamsa is handmade and one of a kind, the Hamsa you order may be slightly different than the one in the picture. The overall effect will be the same but there may be a few different stones, gems, pearls, etc.
