Quality was perfect, and it arrived very quickly. I actually used this as part of a Maria in the opening scene of "The Sound of Music" movie costume for Halloween. The length was perfect since my dress wasn't as long as the real thing. All I had to do was hide the neck straps behind the apron and safety pin it to my dress. Definitely saving it for another Halloween because it was tons of fun.

About

Liberty Seamstress

NEWLY REOPENED.

I first opened this shop a few years ago with historical and retro doll dresses that my sisters and I made for eighteen-inch dolls. We still sell them at the local farmer's market and at http://ladylibby.weebly.com/ It's always fun to stop by and see what's new there. After a while, I shut it down because I was too ill with chronic Lyme to continue it. But I have been greatly blessed and am once again the Liberty Seamstress.

I've also previously done a variety of custom work for reenacting-quality historical costumes and retro-styled clothing. I'll be listing a variety of specific things here, but I'm always ready to work with someone to bring them just the look their trying to find. I'd be delighted if you send me a message here for a custom order!

Almost exclusively, I work with natural fibers: cottons, linens, silks, and wool. Sometimes, though, a polyester blend works up nicely for this or that -- and I do love ribbons! One thing that I take into account in my sewing is the washability of the finished garment. I like to be able to take care of my own clothing and not have to out-source it's cleaning. I believe that clothing should be both durable and beautiful, practical and full of dignity.

That's one reason I make and wear aprons. I especially like the ruffled repurposed aprons that I list here because they are pretty and they serve a good purpose, whether I'm in the kitchen, in the garden, or just cleaning house. I regularly attend this market: https://www.facebook.com/MarketMaster1 So, if you're in the area, I'd love it if you could stop by and see me some Friday!

Soli Deo Gloria.

I love beautiful things, being out of doors, history, music, writing, and cooking. In addition, the skill of sewing and the art of fashion design are ways that I seek to reflect the beauty of the Creator God.

I repurpose cotton men's shirts to make vintage-style aprons. Due to this, each apron is a unique creation. I love doing what my grandmothers did -- reusing things for another purpose! It's one way I carry on their legacy today.

For the custom historical costume listings, please contact me if you have further questions about sizing, colors, and variations. I work only in fabrics of natural fibers and make patterns to standards sizes. If you have a specific need (for example, a petite skirt length or an extra-long sleeve), please let me know and I will gladly see what I can do to accommodate your needs while constructing your garment.
