Hello! My name is Liz and I am a woodcut artist and a librarian.

My work is inspired by science, nature, and my life. My woodcuts are cut by hand on birch veneer plywood blocks and printed with a wooden spoon using oil based inks and thin, Japanese paper. I don't need any special presses or studio space, it's very DIY! My screen prints are taken directly from my woodcut imagery and are also hand printed on my dining room table. I'm a one woman shop!

I call myself the "librarian artist" because I work both in the library field and as an artist. I am an Assistant Lab Technician at a paper conservation lab where I perform preliminary treatment and repairs on works of art on paper and paper archives. Every day at the lab I find connections between the conservation work I am doing and my work as an artist. My knowledge of the visual arts informs my lab work, and the conservation work, in turn, inspires my creativity!

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa where I focused on sculpture, printmaking and drawing. I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas at Austin's School of Information and there received my Masters of Science in Information Studies.

I hope you enjoy looking at my artwork and please let me know if you would like something created just for you! I love making custom items for people!
