Small Town Artist Makes it Big...Err, Opens a Shop... Um, Draws Stuff...

I've been fascinated by art my whole life - my dad was an artist, and my mom was a compulsive doodler, so I came by it honestly. I started out with doodles myself, and then picked up some tips from my dad, who did what he called "heiroglyphic abstractionism" - basically very tightly drawn pictures withint pictures within pictures...

I was afraid of drawing people when I was a kid - all those features that had to be recognizeable - but as I got older and started experimenting with techniques, I became pretty good at it and decided that I liked it very much.

It started as a hobby, me running into times where my bank account whimpered and Christmas or birthdays were creeping up, and I would make drawings as gifts for friends and family. Many of them suggested that I should try selling my drawings, so that's what I started to do, through Facebook and referrals from friends and family.

...and now I'm here, hoping that I can expand my customer base and make new people's lives a little brighter with affordable custom artwork.

Hello, and welcome to my shop!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I think they're worth far more than that.

We use photos to capture the most precious and meaningful moments in our lives; to record the milestones of our children, the beauty of our mothers and sisters, the strength of our fathers and brothers, the blessing of close friends, even the antics of our beloved pets. A photo can take us back to those moments, to be relived time and time again.

Through photos, we celebrate life.

If you were wondering where "Life Itself" Art came from - that's it, in a nutshell.

My goal is to take those memories and bring them to life in a new way, through art. I won't profess to be the best portrait artist out there - I'm not, and I know it. BUT, I can promise you that each portrait I take on is given a lot of time, attention to detail, and - get ready to cringe - love.

Hey, I'm a big city girl with a small town heart - you decide.

Returns and exchanges
I will email you a scanned copy of your portrait for your approval once it has been completed, so refunds are only available BEFORE portrait has been shipped. Refund will be in full if you are unhappy with your portrait and we absolutely cannot work something out.

Refunds/exchanges will be issued for any damaged or unsatisfactory prints, or original paintings (not custom or commissioned pieces) once the item is returned.

Custom or commissioned portraits that arrive damaged will be refunded or redone, buyer's choice, once I receive photos of the damaged items.

I provide tracking numbers with all shipments, but sometimes shipping companies make mistakes as well. If a package is lost or you never receive your order for some reason, please contact me so that we can make arrangements.
Commissioned portraits:

I require an up-front, non-refundable down payment on all custom portraits. Cost is $50 or half of the total price minus shipping, whichever is less. The rest of the cost of your portrait(s) will be charged after you have received your preview and have given me approval on it/them. Full payment must be received before shipment unless other arrangements have been made.

All prints, original drawings, and paintings must be paid for in full before they will be shipped, unless other arrangements have been made.

I will do payment arrangements by request. I know how tight money can get, especially around the holidays, and no one should have to scrape together the money or lose out on a beautiful gift.

Please contact me with any questions and/or for more information.
Please allow up to 14 business days after submission of your digital photo(s) for completion of your portrait. I will contact you with a time frame, but please understand that I am doing this on my own and multiple orders can get overwhelming.

I ship most portraits via USPS Priority Mail. This costs around $5 and gets your portrait to you within 2-3 business days after it has been shipped. If you prefer alternate shipping, please let me know so that we can arrange it, but be aware that shipping charges differ with different shipping methods.

Tracking numbers will be provided to you the same day your item is shipped.
Additional policies and FAQs
- Permission will be asked to use your finished portrait in my online portfolio when the scanned copy is emailed to you. I respect your privacy, so If you choose for it not to be used, simply mark the "no" line in your email and I will remove all copies of your photos and portrait from my computer once it has been sent to you. Permission requests left blank will be assumed a "no."

- Custom orders are a favorite of mine, so if you have something in mind besides a plain portrait (angel wings, name boxes, quotes, etc.), shoot me an email and we can discuss options and pricing.

- As always, if your question wasn't answered here, ASK! :)
