Scandinavian Inspired, Maine-based Textiles
I draw a lot of inspiration from my mother's homeland, Sweden; from the summers I spent there as a child, to the year I spent studying design at Ölands Folkhögskola at the age of 18. I am inspired not only by the stark and beautiful simplicity of Scandinavian design, but also by the lifestyle. Through my designs I hope to help foster traditions, new and old, from holidays and special occasions down to the smallest daily rituals. My emphasis is on simple, thoughtful designs, incorporating bold pattern and cheerful color.
All the prints are my own illustrations and patterns; the fabrics are printed here in the USA and then sewn here in the studio, the mugs are also USA-Made and printed here in the studio. All other ceramic and glass items are printed locally, here in Southern Maine.
How it all started:
Lilleputt Studio began in 2011 when we moved to Maine, in pursuit of a more simple and considered life. After earning a degree in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, I wound up in Brooklyn, NY. There I interned with Jonathan Adler in product and textile design, later worked as a textile designer with a small company, served as an artist's studio assistant, all the meanwhile freelancing in web design and upholstery, and meeting a great many wonderful people while waitressing in a popular Montreal-style Jewish Delicatessen.
I began to realize that I had gotten caught up in the fast-paced lifestyle, without time to reflect on how I was passing my time. I felt I had lost touch with the values and life-style I so admired, so my boyfriend, our alley cat and I packed up on a whim and settled down in Portland, Maine. I set up my studio in a small room in our apartment and got to work. I soon began referring to my space as Lilleputt Studio, named for it's small size and some of our intended customers ('lilleputt' is Swedish for 'peewee').

Owner, Maker, Designer
From Cambridge, MA, I studied Furniture Design & Textiles at RISD. Having lived in Sweden, Rhode Island, Brooklyn and now Portland, Maine, I continue to work in textiles, drawing inspiration for print and color from all these places.
From Detroit, Ryan spends most of his time in his studio (the kitchen), but is my right hand at Shows and Sales, and is often making trips to the Post Office to mail your packages.
Maine, United States
Thanks to Tim and Donna, and some handy equipment, we are able to offer our designs printed on a variety of ceramic and glass items. Printed locally in Maine. Our mugs, however, are printed here in our studio.
Digital Fabric Printer
We outsource the printing of our fabrics to a domestic fabric print company. Digital printing is an environmentally-friendly process, using eco-friendly, water-based inks on natural fabrics. All fabrics are designed, cut and sewn here in the studio.
Paper Products Printer
Providence, RI, United States
Our greeting cards are digitally printed on sustainably sourced paper stock, by a lovely little company in our former hometown of Providence.
Lilleputt Studio designs and creates quality, Scandinavian-inspired designs for every day use in the home. We care strongly about locally producing quality handcrafted items; all textiles are sewn and hand-finished here in the studio (except for our shower curtains which are sewn and printed in KY). Our original textile designs are printed on a crisp white linen/cotton blend (55%linen, 45%cotton), and our baby items on Organic cotton jersey, by a digital fabric printing company in the USA. Our ceramic and glass items are printed here locally in Maine, and our mugs (US-made) are printed here in the studio.
