Scandinavian Inspired, Maine-based Textiles
Me inspiro mucho en la tierra natal de mi madre, Suecia; desde los veranos que pasé allí cuando era niño, hasta el año que pasé estudiando diseño en Ölands Folkhögskola a la edad de 18 años. Me inspira no solo la simplicidad austera y hermosa del diseño escandinavo, sino también el estilo de vida. A través de mis diseños, espero ayudar a fomentar las tradiciones, nuevas y antiguas, desde días festivos y ocasiones especiales hasta los rituales diarios más pequeños. Mi énfasis está en diseños simples y reflexivos, incorporando patrones audaces y colores alegres.

Cómo empezó todo:
Lilleputt Studio comenzó en 2011 cuando nos mudamos a Maine, en busca de una vida más simple y considerada. Después de obtener un título en Diseño de Muebles de la Escuela de Diseño de Rhode Island, terminé en Brooklyn, Nueva York. Allí hice una pasantía con Jonathan Adler en diseño de productos y textiles, más tarde trabajé como diseñador textil en una pequeña empresa, serví como asistente de estudio de un artista, mientras tanto trabajaba independientemente en diseño web y tapicería, y conocí a muchas personas maravillosas mientras trabajaba como camarera en una popular delicatessen judía al estilo de Montreal.
Comencé a darme cuenta de que me había quedado atrapado en el estilo de vida acelerado, sin tiempo para reflexionar sobre cómo estaba pasando mi tiempo. Sentí que había perdido el contacto con los valores y el estilo de vida que tanto admiraba, así que mi novio, nuestro gato callejero y yo empacamos por capricho y nos establecimos en Portland, Maine. Instalé mi estudio en una pequeña habitación de nuestro apartamento y me puse a trabajar. Pronto comencé a referirme a mi espacio como Lilleputt Studio, llamado así por su pequeño tamaño y algunos de nuestros clientes previstos ('lilleputt' es sueco para 'peewee').

I draw a lot of inspiration from my mother's homeland, Sweden; from the summers I spent there as a child, to the year I spent studying design at Ölands Folkhögskola at the age of 18. I am inspired not only by the stark and beautiful simplicity of Scandinavian design, but also by the lifestyle. Through my designs I hope to help foster traditions, new and old, from holidays and special occasions down to the smallest daily rituals. My emphasis is on simple, thoughtful designs, incorporating bold pattern and cheerful color.
All the prints are my own illustrations and patterns; the fabrics are printed here in the USA and then sewn here in the studio, the mugs are also USA-Made and printed here in the studio. All other ceramic and glass items are printed locally, here in Southern Maine.
How it all started:
Lilleputt Studio began in 2011 when we moved to Maine, in pursuit of a more simple and considered life. After earning a degree in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, I wound up in Brooklyn, NY. There I interned with Jonathan Adler in product and textile design, later worked as a textile designer with a small company, served as an artist's studio assistant, all the meanwhile freelancing in web design and upholstery, and meeting a great many wonderful people while waitressing in a popular Montreal-style Jewish Delicatessen.
I began to realize that I had gotten caught up in the fast-paced lifestyle, without time to reflect on how I was passing my time. I felt I had lost touch with the values and life-style I so admired, so my boyfriend, our alley cat and I packed up on a whim and settled down in Portland, Maine. I set up my studio in a small room in our apartment and got to work. I soon began referring to my space as Lilleputt Studio, named for it's small size and some of our intended customers ('lilleputt' is Swedish for 'peewee').
