First and foremost, I am a mom to four beautiful daughters. I began searching for an attractive lap pad after my daughter, Lillie, was diagnosed with a neurological-developmental disorder called, Rett syndrome.
After I initially started my small venture, it became increasingly obvious that our family would need Lillie Pads to be more than just a hobby. Special needs parents find it very difficult to hold down a full-time job due to appointments, therapies and hospitalizations, so my husband became sole bread-winner and I, the caregiver. From the age of 3 years until present day Lillie developed chronic respiratory failure due to the many pneumonias and these series of events eventually landed her with a tracheostomy in 2015. Lillie Pads has been such an amazing way for me to still contribute to the family finances on my (actually, Lillie's) terms. ;)
I digress. As a consumer, I was not thrilled with the weighted blanket options. The fabric was so generic and almost "institution" looking which was the complete opposite of what we were looking for. A child may have special needs, but they deserve to have the same attractive options as their peers! The equipment children required may be unique and limited, but that does not mean their choices should be as well. ;)
My design has been tailored to the needs I, as a parent and consumer, saw were most necessary and beneficial. I also took into consideration the short comings of other lap pads I have tried in the past.

Weighted blankets were primarily used as a therapy tool for children with sensory processing disorders, but are now used by consumers from all walks of life! I even use one at the foot of my bed as I enjoy that "tucked in" feeling. ;) They are beneficial for those with autism, Rett syndrome (my daughter has RS), ADHD, ADD, PPD-NOS, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, sleep disorders, Asperger's syndrome, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, and many more conditions.

Lillie Pads are portable and perfect for school, doctors appts, restaurants, and in the car. The weight provides deep pressure touch stimulation (DPTS) and sensory input. They are often used as a calming and/or concentration tool.
***Please consult with your child's therapist and/or doctor for a more customized weight recommendation. Lillie Pads cannot be held responsible for misuse of our products.***

Made with your choice of two coordinating or different fabrics.
Cotton is the coolest option and is what I predominantly use, but other fabrics are available. Minky and minky dot fabric are only recommended for one side paired with a cotton blend. I also offer a cotton/fleece option upon request. You may request a custom order or purchase other Lillie Pads here:
**Please note, fabric options are subject to change with or without notice based on availability, season and demand. I frequently purchase fabric from our local Joann's, Hobby Lobby, as well as

Lillie Pads are machine washable on a cool, gentle cycle. You may tumble dry or dry on a low setting.
Laying flat to dry is a great option where convenient.
