Lilly by Summer begon met een simpel idee: de dingen die je elke dag gebruikt – je ochtendmok, het T-shirt dat je aantrekt, het notitieboekje waarin je je doelen opschrijft – zouden je eraan moeten herinneren dat je capabel, waardig en onstoppelijk bent, en aan wie je aan het worden bent.

Jarenlang stond mijn leven volledig in het teken van het thuisblijven om voor mijn kinderen te zorgen. Ik zette mijn eigen doelen en dromen met plezier opzij om er voor hen te zijn. Maar toen het moment eindelijk aanbrak om weer naar buiten te treden en mijn eigen ambities na te jagen, besefte ik hoe moeilijk die overgang kon zijn. Er waren zware dagen waarop twijfel de kop opstak, ik me neerslachtig voelde en iemand nodig had om me eraan te herinneren dat het nog niet te laat was, dat ik het kon, dat vandaag ertoe deed.

Daar komt Lilly by Summer vandaan. Ik begon met het ontwerpen van woorden die ik zelf nodig had. Elk item in de winkel is ontworpen vanuit datzelfde idee: kleine, alledaagse aanmoediging. Ik kies woorden en ontwerpen zoals ik zelf aangesproken zou willen worden op een moeilijke ochtend: eerlijk, warm en een beetje hoopvol. De naam zelf is geïnspireerd op de callalelie, een bloem die zelfs onder minder dan perfecte omstandigheden bloeit. Dat is de hele filosofie achter de winkel: bloei waar je geplant bent.

Lilly by Summer started with a simple idea: the things you use every day- your morning mug, the tee you throw on, the notebook you scribble your goals in- should remind you that you are capable, worthy, and unstoppable, and of who you're becoming.

For years, my life was centered entirely around being a stay-at-home parent, happily putting my own goals and dreams on hold to be there for my kids. But when the time finally came for me to step back out and chase my own ambitions, I realized how tough that transition could be. There were hard days when doubt crept in, I felt down, and I needed someone to remind me that it wasn't too late, that I was capable, that today mattered.

That's where Lilly by Summer came from. I started designing the words I needed to hear myself. Every piece in the shop is designed around that same idea: small, everyday encouragement. I choose words and designs the way I'd want to be spoken to on a hard morning: honest, warm, and a little bit hopeful. The name itself is inspired by the calla lily, a flower that blooms even in less-than-perfect conditions. That's the whole philosophy behind the shop: bloom where you are planted.
