A hunter/gatherer who wonders, "What if?" and puts things together
I've done so many different things over the years, each satisfying an urge to create. I earned a degree in television/radio/film from Syracuse University, owned a restaurant, wrote advertising copy, taught in an after-school program for gifted and talented children, published an NFL newsletter, designed perennial gardens, hybridized daylilies, and now am retired from my job as an editor and graphic designer for a nonprofit organization.
Then the bug to make my own thing hit me again. I've always loved different textiles: the tweed of a man's suit, the patina of taffeta ribbon, the landscape of brocade, the hand of soft wool. And I loved hunting for good, unique, non-commercial-fabric-store vintage fabrics. Plus, I'm an environmentalist who hates to waste. A few light bulbs clicked on, and Lily Whitepad was born. (Lily Whitepad is one of those things a family member makes up on a long drive to Washington, DC, when you're a silly teen. It stuck.)

I've always had the desire to create something of my own, from the time I made my own Halloween witch's broom out of a brown paper grocery bag at age 7 to my tea length wedding dress many years later.
