5 out of 5 starsI love the combination of warm and cool colors in the beautiful handwoven scarf! Veronica even sent a picture of the autumnal woods that inspired her choices. The artist in me loves that, and I will delight in wearing this great scarf. Thank you!

Handwoven textiles on the threshold between art and craft
Hi, I'm Veronica, a weaver and artist, the hands that do all the weaving at LiminalWEAVE.
Liminal means relating to a transitional stage or occupying a position at a boundary or threshold. That's where I see my weaving - on the threshold between art and craft.
I was intrigued to discover how textiles are made, and studied textile design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague as a change in career. I immediately loved the process of weaving, the fact that I can take a mass of unruly yarns and transform them into something useful, tactile and beautiful.
After leaving college, I set up my weave studio and began experimenting with different yarns. I fell in love with wool, and it plays a major part in most of my wearable work. Gently washing the wool softens the colours and gives interesting textural effects. Traditional techniques and a thoughtful sourcing of materials are at the heart of my work: softest Merino lambswool grown in Australia and spun in Yorkshire is combined with other natural materials and mill-end yarns, excess to the textile industry.
When I weave, I 'paint' with the yarn, translating my idea into a fabric using texture and colour.
I weave on an electronic hand-operated loom. Early on in my weaving realised that the experimental lengths of fabric I was creating were well suited to being used as scarves. And so the story of LiminalWEAVE began...
