When I was forced to retire in 2011 to take full-time care of my bedfast mother-in-law our finances became extremely tight. I had to find a way to provide Christmas gifts for my grandchildren. That's when I began taking fabric scraps and piecing together patchwork quilts for their Christmas.

In my spare time when my mother-in-law was sleeping I sewed just outside her room. The hum of my sewing machine provided a calm peaceful environment for her and she loved seeing my creations. She was only supposed to live 2 weeks, and she lived over 2 years under my care.

My daughter who is a realtor requested some cord covers that same Christmas, so I experimented and came up with what you now see on my page. They are very popular!

After I got all my Christmas presents taken care of, someone suggested that I start selling my quilts. I realized that large pieced quilts were much too labor intensive and most people aren't willing to pay for the custom work that goes into a large quilt, so in 2013 I began with offering baby quilts on Etsy. My signature design is "pillow quilts". I then added rag quilts to my offering.

After losing my much loved brother in law who loved his Western shirts, I began making Memorial pillows in his honor. Many friends and clients requested I make them for them as well. Now, I've discovered other talented folks who want to make them themselves, but don't have access to an embroidery machine or the embroidered patch, thus I began offering just the patches! Not only do I market my things on Etsy but also locally and on my FB business page, called Custom Creations. I have made lots of friends and have some great clients that really appreciate what I create for them.
