Welcome to Lindsay Designs: modern art glass jewelry and accessories with a retro flare. My work is completely handcut, designed and fused by me, Lindsay Field, in my Austin, Texas studio.
Most items in my shop are in-stock and ready to ship within 1-3 days of purchasing.
Items that are not yet made will be clearly labeled as MADE TO ORDER, and will ship in the time stated in the individual listing.
Once shipped, items will be in transit between 1-6 days depending upon shipping speed selected at checkout.
Every piece of my work is made 100% BY HAND! My work is created by taking colorful sheets of glass and cutting, stacking, and layering them together to create an interesting design. Once my stacked creation is to my liking, I place it in the kiln and fire it to 1500 degrees so all the layers melt down into each other to create a (hopefully!) beautiful design. Once cool, I take the piece out of the kiln as a finished design, or it moves on to additional "coldworking" processes where it is cut, ground, sawed, sandblasted, and/or drilled to refine the design. It then goes back in the kiln to be polished to a nice shine. The pieces often times go through a series of coldworking and firing steps until the final design is achieved.
I do not use any methods of commercial mass production in any of my work, which means each piece is completely unique!
Accessories like my neckwires, leather cords, and chains are not handmade, but are offered to complement and complete your purchase of a pendant.

Handmade Modern Art Glass Jewelry by Lindsay Field
Welcome to Lindsay Designs: modern art glass jewelry with a retro flare. My work is completely handcut and designed by me - Lindsay Field in my Austin, Texas studio.
I've always had a passion for art and as a child I wanted to "be an artist someday!" I was in every art class I could take throughout much of my formal education. Early on as a kid I found all glass objects to be completely mesmerizing and my love of glass began. Years passed and I went to school at the University of Texas in Austin. I began my education with a Studio Art degree but during my junior year I panicked and didn't think I would be able to make money as an artist, so I switched my career path to Advertising and graduated with a BS in Communication in 2003. However, during my senior year of college I came across a glass technique called Lampworking: the process of making glass beads using a torch. I was immediately hooked! I took classes, read all that I could, and practiced constantly! It was such a thrill getting to create something out of nothing. So, I got my degree in Advertising, but was once again determined to be an artist. That same year Lindsay Designs was born. A few years after I learned how to make glass beads on the torch, I discovered another technique called Fused Glass. This process has lead me to where I am today: a full time fused glass artist making modern designs with a retro flare. While I still create glass beads on a torch from time to time, my true artistry has shown through in my fused glass process.
My current work consists of taking colorful sheets of glass and cutting, stacking, and layering them together to create an interesting design.
Along with my passion for glass is my love of color and the unique patterns that color alone creates. I am inspired by fabric designs, wallpaper, architecture, nature, and even a rug in a room. My inspiration also comes from understanding the color wheel and color theory. I enjoy the process of combining colors together as well as the technical nature of working with glass to create unique designs.
All of the work you see in my shop is made solely by me. I am Lindsay Designs. When I'm not creating my work I'm either: thinking of new ideas, photographing my work, adding work to my online shops, selling my work at an art festival and every once in awhile I get some sleep! I take great pride in the quality of work that I produce. I feel incredibly fortunate that my love of art and glass has allowed me to follow my passion and create art for a living. Even though there are moments in my process that are quite tedious, it still gives me great satisfaction to create art work that others enjoy.

For as long as I can remember, I have always had an interest in art and working with my hands. My interest in glass blowing led me to discover that I could make my own glass beads and fused art and I knew I had found my true artistic passion.
