OUR STORY

Hello, dear conscious summer chaser,

My name is Laura, and I am a mother of two kids. I live in Klaipeda, the beautiful seaport of Lithuania. I love the sea. I love natural products. I am passionate about sustainability. And I truly love LINEN clothes … I am a conscious summer chaser, too. I’m glad to see you here, and want to welcome you to our community. I believe now is the perfect time to share the story of Linen Handmade Studio’s beginning and how it is today.

It all started in my early childhood. My mother was a seamstress, so I spent many hours with her in her studio. My passion was creating clothes for my dolls. It actually was my first small business as my girlfriends started asking me to create some clothes for their dolls, too. When I was in high school, I loved attending various art classes and creative workshops. I started tailoring personalized style clothes for my friends and designed some theatre costumes, too. After school, I studied costume design. During that period, I tailored so many clothes that it was too many to count…. This was my TRUE passion. After my second child, I finally realized it was time to start my own business, which was my secret dream since my early childhood. A memory of my grandmother’s wardrobe with a special section for linen tablecloths was my inspiration. Linen is a Lithuanian heritage, and historically, Lithuanians recognized linen not only as a material for the healing value of the plant, but also as having magical properties. It was and still is a symbol of wellbeing and harmony.

In the beginning, I had a BIG dream and passion. At that time, I didn’t have many collections or well-designed marketing campaigns. My start was very natural and organic. One day, I woke up and decided to drive to another town in search of the perfect linen fabric, and said nothing to anyone. I created the first trial linen attire, did some photoshoots, and sketched the future designs over and over again. And all of that was done during my little spare time while looking after my kids. I simply was “one-man orchestra”. Even though it was a big challenge, I LOVED it so much. These memories are something very special to me that motivates and drives me to move forward.

The number of orders increased slowly together with customers’ love for handmade linen attire.They TRUSTED me and my brand. Due to the increased demand, I started working together with my mother, and later, a few more seamstresses joined our team, but we were all still working from home. I noticed that I spent more hours driving back and forth to visit them than actually preparing/designing/sketching/producing linen wear. As a result, three years ago, we decided to open our first studio located near the Curonian lagoon in Klaipeda. From that moment forward, we felt that we were expanding our creative horizons, developing ourselves professionally, taking care of each other and, most importantly, creating a strong customers' community who value sustainability, handmade products, sea, linen, femininity, quality and the longevity of our wear.

Frequently asked questions
1. What's the production time in your shop?

Production time in our shop varies, though we usually need 2-3 weeks to complete one order. If you place your order during Fall or Winter, it will take us around 1-2 weeks to ship it. We always try our best to finish and ship items as early as possible. If you need your order to be delivered on time for a special date, contact us straight away. We will let you know if we are able to make and ship the order on the same day or the day you need it for.

2. What if I need to change/cancel my order?

We do not accept cancellations but do not hesitate to contact us if anything is not right with your order. We will surely help you solve the issues regarding accidental mistakes (wrong size, color, etc.).

3. Do you accept returns?

Our shop accepts returns and exchanges, but we want to minimize our impact on the planet and reduce waste, so we kindly ask you to pay close attention to the size chart before purchasing. Our size chart is available in the product description and pictures of the item.
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. Unfortunately, unless the item arrives damaged or defective, we cannot accept returns/exchanges for personalized orders.

4. How do I return an item?

Always notify us before sending the return. Include your order number and items you want to return/exchange.
Please, always ship the parcel via post, not a courier. Postal service insures you for the value of the goods as they are your responsibility until they reach us. Always save a tracking number so we would be able to track the parcel. We cannot accept the parcel that was sent using a method other than post.
IMPORTANT: We make a refund only after receiving the parcel and checking if it meets our return requirements - unwashed, unworn, and with a tag.
IMPORTANT II: We require the tracking number to be sent after posting. We will have to track the parcel to be able to declare it to Lithuanian customs.

5. How can I edit/change my shipping information?

If you wrote incorrect shipping information or simply want to change the shipping address, write us a message with the correct one. We will include that to our notes and the parcel will be shipped to the right place.

6. How can I track my parcel? What if parcel gets lost in the delivery?

If your parcel has been shipped and you want to know its exact location – reach out to us, we will give you a tracking number. Link to track: https://www.post.lt/en/help/parcel-search
Please note that any package to non-EU countries with a weight of 2 kg (or more) will be automatically upgraded to FedEx express shipping with no extra cost. You will still be able to track your parcel.
IMPORTANT - Please always include your phone number in the notes at the checkout so that FedEx could contact you.
If the parcel gets lost in the delivery or arrives damaged, defective, we always remake the order and ship it to you. We do not issue a refund for lost parcels.

7. How to take care of linen clothing? Does linen shrink?

Linen can be washed in a washing machine – plain white linen at 60 degrees, colored linen at 40 degrees. Use a mild soap for a wash.
Softened linen doesn't shrink, regular linen shrinks up to 8 % but only on the first wash.

8. How do I ask for longer length?

If you need other length of the dress or the sleeves and that is only up to 10 cm include your demand into the notes when purchasing. We always carefully check and complete these notes and that doesn’t have extra charge. However, if you need other length and that is more than +10 cm, reach out to us for a custom order.

9. What if I need a custom order?

Our shop no longer offers personalization according to personal measurements because this practice requires in-person fittings. Personalization we do offer involves:
1) changing the length of the garment (shorter, longer length);
2) changing the length of the sleeves (except kimono or cap sleeves);
3) changing the positioning of the waist (making it lower/higher.

If you have other requests, please reach out to us via conversations and we will let you know if it is possible.

10. How do I measure the length of the design?

The length of the dress is usually measured from the back starting from seventh neck vertebra to hem. Skirt length is measured very simply – starting from waist and going all the way to the hem. Correct way to measure length of the pants is to measure the inseam. That is the inside of your pants from the crotch down to the hem.
