    Starting all over again...

Upon reading my bio you may have discovered that a life-changing event dramatically propelled me into my life of painting. During this time I would stare out my window at our old weathered pool house. It sat alone under a grove of redwood trees, full of spiders, darkness, and neglect.
So one day I decided to on a pair of gloves, and with a fair amount of courage I began to clean. It seemed to take ages, clearing everything away, but after a lot of hard work and a few bucks, I transformed that dank dirty pool house into a shining new art studio.

    The Empty Canvas:
My studio was beautiful. Full of white stretched canvases, shinny new bottles of mineral spirits, gleaming tubes of oil paint and the smell of turpentine which filled the air. I would visit my studio each evening after work and sit staring at my empty canvas. I couldn't seem to start; picking up a brush was like jumping in a cold pool. It was a horrible feeling and it went on for months...

    Like riding a bike:
One night it just happened, don't ask me how, all I know is that without thought I picked up a tube of Phthalo Blue watercolor squirted it onto my pallet, dipped my brush into the soft moist paint and didn't stop for hours. I had finally started to paint again.. I hadn't painting since I left high school. It all seemed to come back to me, just like riding a bike.

    My process:
I was hooked; I painted after work, on the weekends and whenever I could slip away. I started with a fantasy piece, which eventually turned into a series of 5 paintings influenced by my love of Greek and Roman Goddesses. I painted in watercolor but used the color like one would paint with oil, thick and multilayered.
Oil painting came next and my love of people sprang onto the canvas. I love the diversity of people of various ethnic and religious backgrounds and started painting portraits of Tibetan Nomads, African Tribal women,, Vietnamese workers and Rabbi's at the Western Wall. My main interest is in the working women of LDC (Least developed countries) and DC (Developing Countries).

    Now what?
After about 2 years I had roughly 25 paintings. What do I do with all of these paintings? I was lucky enough to be invited by a gallery in San Francisco to exhibit my paintings for a month and I am happy to say I sold quite a few.
I was then accepted by jury to be part of the 34th Annual Celebration of Craftswomen at Fort Mason where I had another successful show. My paintings are in several different galleries now and I am so happy I took the chance and went for my dream. It is my hope to someday paint full time. But until then I will continue to paint after work, on the weekends and whenever I get the chance. I work out of that dank dark studio that has turned into more than just a pool house

Hello and Welcome to my Shop-

I love to paint and I paint from my heart. I am in constant search for the spiritual nature of life and my paintings reflect that search. It is my wish that you will enjoy your piece as much as I did painting it.

I paint in my little studio in the shade of towering redwood trees just beside my home in Northern California with my cat Pepper and my dog Pico.

Please contact me with any questions and I will be more than happy to assist in any way I can.
