Announcement   Gearing up for the holidays...

Handcrafted, individual pieces for individual people.

I am not a production potter. I really dread the thought of creating the same item over and over again. Same form, same design, same color....not me. When I create a piece, I am making that single piece of functional ceramic art. I hand form, I hand carve, I brush glaze. I treat each form as if it were a sculpture, each surface as if it were a canvas. It takes time, but I am proud of my work. I enjoy what I do. I create functional ceramic art. My coffee cups are not just coffee cups...

Here you will find a collection of works, all handcrafted by me, Lisa Melita. I am a professional ceramic artist in Norfolk, VA. I have a small home studio where I design, build and finish all of my original art pieces. I do not use commercial molds or bisque ware. All of my pieces are hand-built or wheel thrown, by me, using mid-fire stoneware ceramic clay and finished with lead free, food safe and non-toxic glazes. I use my own wares daily. The Melitas never run out of bowls...

As I design, I am constantly focusing on the aesthetics and usability of an everyday item-experimenting with the shape, the location of details, colors, texture, and ergonomics. I am always tweaking, testing and improving my forms. And by the way, there is always room for one more hole in a colander...

International Shipping is now available USPS First Class on select items. Please convo for additional information.

SHOPS & GALLERIES...

I am currently limiting the number of wholesale and consignment accounts. Please convo your inquiries and requests.

I am a professional mixed media artist working in Norfolk, VA.
Each piece is handcrafted & unique. Made by me and only me. I do not use commercial molds nor do I create pieces from commercial bisqueware. All pieces of pottery are original designs, handbuilt using the slab technique.

I personally pack and ship all works. From the largest pieces, requiring a wooden crate, to the smallest, needing just a box and bubble wrap...the same amount of care and attention is used to be sure your purchase arrives safely.

I encourage viewers to comment or ask additional questions about my work. If you need additional photos or close ups....just ask. I'll do what I can.
