It has been great to be part of the creative process with Lisa and of course this means my input and her doing the work. I love all four of my custom pieces more than I had imagined I would. They are treasures and I can not wait to begin Phase two of scottie mosaics. I want to mention that the pieces are even better in person than the photos depict and that is pretty hard to top right there. Wonderful gifts for friends if you can stand to give them away that is! Great lady, great items and great deal! GREAT SCOTS too!

About

Island dreams

Welcome to my dream! Oh darn, did I start off with a cliche? It's the truth though, thank you for being a part of it.

Just to keep things real, it's not all fun, but most of it is ;)

My first dream in life was to be a wife and a mom, this has been my life for more than 30 years (I started young, ok)

Like we all know, the wife and mom thing is a very busy business, but it became even busier 20 years ago when we moved to beautiful Vashon Island, a 15 minute ferry boat ride from Seattle Washington. Suddenly, I not only had three boys and a husband to care for, but 5 acres to keep up.

The years flew by with homeschooling, sports, all the many activities life throws our way. I knew I wanted to create art, creating has always been a part of my life. During the years of living my wife/mom dream (it wasn't always dreamy, but mostly) I was planning my next dream of being able to work from home once the kids were raised. There aren't many places I'd rather be than home, for many of us, home can truly be our sanctuary.

You probably don't know, but Vashon Island is very artsy, the Arts are highly valued and varied around here, same for Seattle. It's hard to live on Vashon and not be inspired in so many ways. I first discovered mosaic art from a wonderfully talented Vashon artist. Once I started I was SO hooked. If this is an art form that you've ever thought of trying, I would encourage you to jump in and do it! Don't be discouraged if your first tries aren't what you hoped. When I look back 15 years ago, or so, my early work was, well, not good at all! Keep practicing, if you love it you will get better, I promise. I'm always happy to answer questions about the process or point you to a favorite book or website for info.

Back to the dream.....The time finally came that I am an artist full time, yes! The last son graduated in 2013, yay! Loved raising those guys but this "me" time is pretty awesome!

Creating mosaics has been a long, fun, growing experience. I still have miles of room to grow, miles and miles, I'm excited by that! The last few years I've added jewelry. I am in love with making art that I can wear and that you can wear too. I had no idea how much there was to know and learn about creating jewelry. Besides being beautiful, which is my first goal, my pieces are built to last and easy to wear. I am all about comfort, everything I wear has to feel good, from shoes, clothing, to my jewelry. Creating jewelry and mosaics are such a pleasure for me, there truly are not enough hours in each day. I'm excited to see where this dream will lead....so far so good!

My story became a bit longer than planned. If you've stuck with me this far, I'll do you a favor and bring it to an end. Thank you for you, and for your interest! We all have interesting stories in our own special way, I'm happy to have shared some of mine with you. Don't stop dreaming, you just never know what may be in store for you.

xo Lisa
