My sister loves her newest Lit Knits hat! (I knew she would). She was looking forward to trying it out, immediately, taking her best girl Izzy (a German Shepard) out for a long hike. It is a great privilege to purchase Laura's creations they are wearable-art & are cozy to boot! Thank you again! Hopefully one day I'll be able to tempt you to knit an Amelia Bedelia scarf for me. 😉 ~Kirsten

Everyone always loves/treasures your knitwear, it's fool-proof! My Mom loved her cowl, my aunt loved her cap, & I haven't been able to deliver my friend's cowl yet, but I'll see her soon. Fabulous work Laura, my knitting queen! 😊 Merry Christmas to you & your family! Yours, Kirsten

About

Hand-knit with literary flair!

I started Lit Knits in 2011 to help me contend with my overflowing yarn collection. While I'd enjoyed knitting hats and scarves for family members and friends, I thought, why not knit for other people? My husband helped me think of the shop name, and my burgeoning corner of Etsy became an opportunity to combine my literary interests with my craft ones. (And little did I realize Lit Knits would provide the perfect excuse to buy even more yarn!)

I started off with just a few simple designs - tried and true patterns with classic lines that reminded me of some of my favorite authors and books. From there, I learned new techniques and made a go at my own designing, all in hopes of creating a collection that would be always fresh, dewy, and inspiring-ly literary. Rather than aiming for a mass-produced or easily copy-able look, I like variety. I've knit items I won't ever knit again, and many of my shop listings include one-of-a-kinds (though I try to sprinkle in some regulars!).

Overall, I just want to create that wee bit of dash and drama that makes a person feel both comforted and a little bit like someone new and adventurous.

Additional policies and FAQs
WHOLESALE: At this time, I unable to sell my items at wholesale prices. If you are interested in carrying some of my knits in your store, feel free to contact me via email about consignment or modest discounts.

A note about perfection: While I strive for AWESOME, none of these lovely pieces are flawless. (After all, they are made by flawed human hands.) However, I like to see any imperfections as enriching the item's "character" - so revel in the well-roundedness!

A note about size: Most items are sized "medium," and I do my best to include detailed information about sizing, since there can be some variation. When it doubt, measure yourself or space out the dimensions of the piece I'm advertising. The upside of knitted accessories, however, is that they can be re-sized somewhat by "blocking." If the item you buy is a bit too snug or too loose, try dampening it or using steam from an iron. From there, you can stretch or contract as much as you need to. As the knitted item dries, it will retain its new shape. If you have concerns about size, feel free to contact me about having an item custom-knit.
