About

My Life in France

I came to France years ago and bought a HUGE farm.
Had lots of animals including a herd of Angora Goats plus Angora Rabbits, which took all my time.
We then sold the farm and bought three small labourers cottages that had been made into one single house which, when I say needed renovation that would be an understatement. We have been doing it up bit by bit for the last ten years - and now I can actually say it is finished.

I absolutely adore hunting around the vide greniers, brocantes and the flea markets (I think marche des puces) sounds better though.
We get some great things and what I can`t keep, which is mainly everything as the house is more or less flooded now, I put on Etsy.

I must admit I am still a big kid at heart and my greatest joy is rummaging in boxes, shouting my heart out at auctions and making friends with the local
Brocante owners.
I have started a little blog which I would love my Etsy buyers, lookers and glancers to have a look at and maybe leave a comment but please be kind.

Hello everyone and welcome to our LITTLE FRENCH OWL SITE.

I am very interested in French Vintage Shabby chic, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and decprative pieces. f you would like me to look out for items to put on our site that would interest you please email me and I will do my up most to help you. I have many satisfied returning customers so hopefully I am doing something right.

I am also very willing to learn, you are never too old - so if you are not happy with any of our policies, please let us know.

I am afraid the French Post Office only do first class postage to international destinations.

Postage on more than one item can be combined to reduce costs in most cases, but there may be exclusions to this rule i.e. weight or size.

United Kingdom: 2-10 business days
North America: 2-3 weeks
Europe: 1-2 weeks
Australia, New Zealand and Oceania: 2-5 weeks
Asia Pacific: 2-5 weeks
Latin America and the Caribbean: 4-10 weeks

I'll do my best to meet these shipping estimates, but can't guarantee them. Actual delivery time will depend on the shipping method you choose.

We will ship all items between 1 - 3 working days

Due to the increase in security especially on transatlantic routes, customs and coastguards are becoming more vigilant which is causing delays in goods being cleared.

I am sure you will understand that it is a small price to pay for security.
We apologize to our customers in advance.

If your country is not listed or the "everywhere else" box is not filled please contact us for a price as we do ship worldwide.

Please note we do not put tracking onto parcels as standard.
If you require tracking, this will cost another 3.60 euros on top of your shipping costs.

If you combine shipping of course you only need to pay one lot of tracking.

Refunds and Exchanges
RETURNS POLICY: general

Buyers MUST inform us within 7 days of receipt (as evidenced by tracking) that they wish to return an item.

For "buyers change of mind returns" (ie goods returned for reasons where we were not at fault") we refund only the purchase price and not original or return shipping.

For returns where we were at fault (we sent incorrect item or one significantly mis-described) we refund outward and return shipping by a similar service to what we used

RETURNS FOR GOODS FROM WITHIN THE EUROPEAN UNION: Buyers have 7 days from the date of receipt to notify us that they wish to return an item.

1) Goods must be carefully packed so as not to sustain damage.

2) They must be returned to us in "same condition as sent" unless we have been supplied with photographic evidence that item was damaged in outward transit.

3) Goods must not be altered or amended in any way.

4) Buyer should obtain proof of postage and use a trackable shipping method.

5) No refund can be issued until the goods are back in our hands in "same condition as sent".

6) Returned goods which are lost or damaged in transit are the responsibility of the sender and who will need to claim compensation from their mail carrier.

RETURNS FOR GOODS FROM OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN UNION:
They should be completed in accordance with the procedure outlined above for EU returns.

THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL PROCEDURE MUST BE OBSERVED.

The package must be clearly marked - preferably on the customs label - RETURNED UNWANTED GOODS NO IMPORT TAX PAYABLE.

Should we incur customs/VAT/handling charges or other out of pocket expenses these will nevertheless be deducted from any refund due to the buyer. This is regardless of whether or not the package is suitably marked.

Non EU Buyers will be required to agree in writing to these terms before we accept a return.

Items sent without the above agreement in place may be refused and returned to the buyer.

Buyer must supply clear photographic evidence of damage within 7 days of notification.

It MUST be sent as a jpg attached to Etsy convo or email. We are unable to accept pictures sent to a celphone via sms or mms.

Under no circumstances will we refund or be held responsible for items which arrive safely and are subsequently damaged in use.

REFUSED/ABANDONED/UNCOLLECTED PACKAGES:

We do not refund shipping (either outward or return) for packages which are returned to us because buyer refused delivery or did not "claim" the package. By claim we mean picked up from postal depot or arrangements made to redeliver.

Such packages are treated as "abandoned" by the postal service and are usually returned to sender.

"Returned to sender" packages are typically given low priority by postal services and may take many weeks to return to us. In some cases the package is never returned.

No refund can or will be issued until the goods are returned to our premises.

On return buyers will be given the choice of a refund of item price only or of having the item/s reshipped at their expense.

Please note, where we try to be as accurate as possible dating our items, it really is impossible to give an exact date. So please note all dates are approximate.


VINTAGE ITEMS CONDITION: Antique and vintage items are rarely pristine in the way that one might expect for brand new. They may contain signs of wear, minor flaws or signs of former ownership such as scratched initials

We try to note all flaws which might affect the appearance, value or functionality of a piece. However it would be impractical to mention every minor scratch or abrasion on a pre-owned item. These latter are part of the history of the piece.

Photographs are an important part of the description and should be examined carefully. Flaws or features which are clearly visible in one or more photographs are considered to have been disclosed even if not specifically mentioned in descriptions.

Buyers are expected to carefully read descriptions and examine pictures and are assumed to have done so regardless of whether or not this is actually the case. When in doubt about condition questions can (and should) be asked to clarify any doubts.

EXAMPLES OF "SUBSTANTIALLY NOT AS DESCRIBED"

Minor surface wear

Removable dirt: we do not clean or repair vintage pieces unless they are extremely dirty as many collecters prefer to do this themselves.

An example of substantially mis-described are:-

item described as "sterling" or "silver" shown to be silver plated or base metal.
