"Tsumami (Kanzashi)" is the Japanese traditional art work developed during the Edo period.

Tsumami kanzashi has been officially designated as a traditional Japanese handcraft in the Tokyo region since 1982.

In the English-speaking world, the term "kanzashi" is sometimes applied to the folded cloth flowers that traditionally adornedtsumami kanzashior to the technique used to make those flowers.

These flowers are carefully and gently hand-shaped by folding small pieces of squared fabric into petals.

The artist Cocaze Saito (fuccosim) started her Tsumami artisan in 2002. Since her humble start of this traditional art work, her pieces are loved and gaining continuous supports by many. All Little Tsumami products are designed and gently hand made with love and passion.

* Tsumami Art are made of fabric, paper and traditional starch glue.
** All the items, if not most, of the items are using antique kimono silk fabric, hemp, cotton, Czech beads, Swarovski glass stones.

We are able to re-create similar items but could not be able to make exact ones.

** How to take care Kanzashi flower**
Stay away from water.
Keep in the wooden box comes with.
PLEASE NOTE: The wooden (paulownia) box that is use to safekeep your Kanzashi flower;
In Japanese art, the box itself holds value. The ‘kiri-bako’ not only function as a perfect storage, it also gives the piece certification. On the beautifully smoothed box is usually a caligraphy or sealed by the artist that explains the author, the content (or sometimes the name and concept of the piece), and with an original stamp of the artist. Although the location of this caligraphy vary depending on the artist, you should generally find it on the top or the side of the box.

About a wooden box comes with.

Facts on why paulownia wood?
- the lightest timber that grows in Japan,
- resistant to humidity which may be detrimental to art-pieces,
- high tolerance to cracks and strains,
- high resistance to fire,
(it is said that its ignition point is 420C - reports claims that clothes in paulowniea chests being safe even in case of fire)
- and is also the symbol (go-shichi-no-kiri) of the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan.

つまみ細工は紙・布・ワイヤー・でんぷん糊で出来ています。
水には大変弱く、濡れると花弁が散り落ちてしまうので、ご使用のさいは十分ご注意下さい。

水や湿気は避けてください。保管の際は付属の箱に入れて乾燥した室内で保管してください。
