This is a term that sewers and definitely quilters will know but those new to sewing might find confusing. A fat quarter is basically 1 metre of fabric divided into 4 pieces. Normally a fat quarter measures around 50cm x 55cm although this can vary depending on the width of the actual fabric. This is not to be confused with a long quarter. A long quarter is cut a different way and will measure 25cm x 110cm so as it’s name suggests a long strip of fabric rather than the squarer format of a fat quarter.

Los algodones y polialgodones digitales se desteñirán ligeramente tras períodos prolongados de lavado.No recomendamos a los clientes que laven previamente los paquetes Charm, Layer Cakes o Jelly Rolls. Debido a que son de algodón de primera calidad, no deberían desteñir. Es mejor lavarlos después de haber confeccionado la colcha, ya que siempre habrá un cierto porcentaje de encogimiento con el algodón. Personalmente, siempre pongo un par de atrapacolores en la lavadora con la colcha por si acaso.

Manufacturers will always advise to wash all their fabrics at 30 degrees. Digital cottons and polycottons will fade slightly over prolonged periods of washing.

We don't advise customers pre-wash any charm packs, layer cakes or jelly rolls. Because they are premium cotton they shouldn't colour run. It's better to wash after you have made the quilt as there will always be some percentage of shrinkage with cotton. I personally always through a couple of colour catchers in the washing machine with the quilt just in case.
