Updates

Thank you for thinking of Little Wolf paracord during the holiday season! I have been hard at work! Unfortunately, the power supply to my laptop broke.
Until the replacement arrives, I am working only from my phone. Thank you for understanding.

About

From Lights and Sirens, to Puppies and Paracord

Little Wolf Paracord first began developing in July 2014 as a personal hobby for the artist, Amy "Skylar" Kaplan.

Skylar had worked as a paramedic, mental health technician, and volunteered as a firefighter, and always had a creative side, particularly for making beaded jewelry. But in December 2012, Skylar sustained a head and spine injury in a motor vehicle collision when a bus struck the ambulance they were inside while caring for a patient. They found they were unable to do the same things they were able to do prior to the collision, including the jewelry work that they loved. Being out of work and unable to do what they loved most in life - helping others - brought them deeper and deeper into depression. Eventually they pursued training their own assistance dog to do tasks to help them with their medical conditions. Their first assistance dog, Zero, an Alaskan Malamute often mistaken by the public as being a wolf, was the inspiration for the name of their soon-to-be store.

Unable to continue with their jewelry hobby, Skylar turned to other creative outlets. A friend showed them how she was starting to make paracord leashes, and Skylar decided to try it again. They had never been able to successfully work with paracord before, but after many, many hours of watching videos over and over again, Skylar was able to learn their first knot. After that, they soon had friends asking them to make dog collars as well! And when someone suggested they open an Etsy so other service dog owners could buy traffic handles and pull straps from them, they did. Skylar forgot they had even opened an Etsy shop until one day they received a notification that they had a sale! And then another, and another!

Through this, Skylar found a new way that they could help others, just in a different capacity. Skylar takes pride in making customized, reliable, durable gear for service dog handlers with the highest quality craftsmanship and materials. Skylar also designs educational materials on service dogs for awareness and to assist handlers, especially regarding etiquette and the the rights of handlers, as aids for advocacy against harassment and discrimination.

Sizing details

Measurement instructions to determine sizing are specified in each listing. It is important to follow directions for proper sizing. Do not measure other collars or bracelets. Do not add length to measurements. Length will be added to the size you provide to ensure that bracelets, collars, and other items fit appropriately. The amount of length that needs to be added for an item to fit properly depends on several factors, including the type of weave.

Contact me if you need help understanding how to measure.

Service Dog Products

When ordering service dog-related items, please be prepared to answer the two questions legally outlined in the ADA if asked. I reserve the right to refuse, cancel and refund orders for service dog-related items if the information provided does not indicate a service dog as defined by the ADA.

A service dog is specially trained to mitigate a disability for their disabled handler. Misrepresenting a pet as a service animal hurts the reputation of legitimate service dogs and their handlers, and may constitute a crime dependent on state law. Don't do it. Cards are intended for education use only and are not a form of identification. They do not carry with them any rights or privileges and they are not proof that a dog is a service dog.

-Products to tether children to service dogs, where the dog is being used as an "anchor"

-Wrapping stethoscopes in paracord - there is no way to safely decontaminate this item, and causes an unacceptable risk of disease transmission. Please check out our stethoscope ID tags and decorative tabs instead!

Rush Service

The time it takes me to build orders varies. Some orders may take longer depending on workload and the size of your order. If you need or would like your items sooner, ask about Rush Service.

If you are placing an order that is time-sensitive and must arrive by a certain date (i.e. for a wedding), please contact me prior to placing your order so I can verify that I can accommodate your deadline.

Shipping upgrades are an upgrade to the shipping service itself, it is NOT a rush service on construction on your order.

Rush Service quotes will vary depending on things including the size of the order, if supplies need to be ordered with faster shipping, and how soon the order is needed.

Priority shipping recommended with rush service.
