Welcome to Swan&Stone Millinery (formerly Little Hill Woolworks)! We are a collective of two (human) artisans, seven sheep and 100 acres of beautiful Vermont farmland, where we create our hand-made hats, booties and accessories "from the grass up". Our farmer/felter Samantha Stone makes her own felt by hand using environmentally benign wet-felting and nuno-felting techniques and farm-sourced wool and alpaca fibers. Our designer, Nora Swan handcrafts all our hats, fascinators and other fashion-forward accessories using original designs and patterns, antique hat forms, vintage trims and humanely-grown feathers from the farm. What we can't grow ourselves, we source as close to home as possible!

Our inspiration and sustenance comes from the beautiful Vermont landscape around us and we work hard to celebrate and not desecrate this wonderful world.

As for the designs, we are a little bit country, a little bit "what the heck?" We make high-fashion works of art that mix a sophisticated, worldly aesthetic, couture-grade craftsmanship and an earthy authentic vibe. Our hats might begin in a pasture, but they would be at home on any runway from Paris and Milan to New York and Tokyo.

All our sheep have distinct personalities, and we design along thematic “lines” that celebrate them! Fancy May, dapper Simon and elfin Roxy each have their own groove & each item you buy comes with a little biographical sketch of the sheep who inspired it.

Custom orders: This is a tricky one, since sometimes customers ask for things that we would not design ourselves.
