About LiveOrDyeYarn

On Etsy since 2016

My name is Lorena and I have been passionate about knitting and yarn for all my life. Ever since I was very young, I always loved to try, to test; new stiches, unknown yarns, challenging techniques, combinations of color-yarn-technique. For me, every project has always been a real new adventure.

I have always been intrigued by dyeing with natural and chemical pigments, until, in order to expand to 360 ° my technical knowledge in this area, in January 2016, I flew to Bath (England) to attend a dyeing course at Devon Sun Yarns.

I suddenly fell in love! From that moment, colors, for me, have not been only shades to match or to choose from, but real creations, experiments, chemical reactions. Behind each skein is an inspiration, reflection, there are studies, tests and especially wait… to find out the exact shade.

All yarn you can find in my shop come from Argentina and Uruguay; from small and big factories which have decided not to use mulesing method on its cattle. Each animal is respected and does not suffer violence.

Wool is dyed with acidic colors carried by citric or acetic acid, respecting the environment and without waste of water. The little amount of water which remains is pigment free and can be reused. As well as dyes which can be reused for 6 months.

For the great human contribution to dyeing each color is unique in its shades and no skein can be identical to another. I use to dye my yarn in small batches so they may have small variation from a skein to another. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows when using multiple skeins in the same project.

All my yarn is meant FOR HIGH QUALITY LOVERS ONLY.
