About

The world of traditional textiles...

Luckily I was in Mexico training English teachers in an area with a lot of wonderfully dressed indigenous women. I started visiting their nearby village and documenting their processes for making these elaborate costumes. This turned into a full-blown passion and so I have been traveling around Mexico since 2006 to far-flung fiestas and ceremonies, feast days, artisan fairs and collecting textiles.
All good collecting seems to end with the need to sell some of the over-flow. I love supporting the artisans's work and consult for several coops in Oaxaca and Chiapas. Even more I love telling their stories so others can appreciate how much work goes into their textiles used daily for practical purposes and their fantastic ceremonial costumes (traje).
My etsy store is my way of sharing my passion for collecting and MEXICO with others.

"Textile Fiestas of Mexico - a travelers guide" - available Fall 2016 - from THRUMS publisher...and AMAZON. My contribution to your traveling in Mexico and supporting the amazing traditional artisans..... YES, Mexico is SAFE!

I opened this shop to share my passion for textiles from Mexico (and sometimes other places). The last 9 years I have been documenting indigenous traditional textiles throughout different parts of Mexico, but particularly Oaxaca and Chiapas.

I'll be happy to help you develop your collection of ethnic textiles and jewelry as that's what LIVING TEXITLES specializes in. Most items are from my personal collection so I'll provide as much information as I know about them. Being a design professional for 20 years and collecting for at least 40 years I've developed a discerning eye - so I have collected really 'good stuff'.

Shipping
Mailing purchases in the US through USPS Priority Mail most days. This automatically provides tracking. I'll send you a notice when it ships providing tracking numbers.

Insurance also suggested for more expensive items. BUT I also do 'signature confirmation' which is more protection. Please convo me if you have a preference.

I'll work with you for overseas mailing too! First Class seems to be the most economical but Priority mail (more expensive) is available for security on higher priced items.
IF YOU NEED YOU PURCHASE IN A HURRY (like overnight) - I ALSO USE FED EX or UPS.
Refunds and Exchanges
If the item isn't what you expected or doesn't fil and you want to return it - Please convo me. I can do exchanges and also refund the price of the item through either PayPal or back to your credit card through Etsy's service.

I do not refund shipping costs. So that you will have to pay the cost of mailing to return an item.
