He sido cónyuge militar durante casi 13 años. En ese tiempo hemos empacado y nos hemos mudado 6 veces diferentes y hemos agregado 3 niños a nuestra familia. Nuestra mudanza más reciente significó dejar mi trabajo de enseñanza y mudarme a una pequeña ciudad ubicada a unas 30 millas al norte de Key West, FL. Compramos una parte superior fijadora (¡¡vista invisible!!) y estábamos menos que emocionados de encontrar un olor bastante extraño persistente sin importar cuánto fregáramos. No había quemado una vela ni usado cera derretida en casi 10 años debido a los dolores de cabeza que obtendría, pero estaba decidida a encontrar una manera de llenar nuestra casa con aromas acogedores.
Lo que comenzó como una forma de mantenerse ocupado durante los despliegues de mi esposo, mi hijo mediano y yo comenzamos a crear cera de soya que se derrite con las fragancias más limpias que pudimos encontrar. Con 3 niños y nuestro Goldendoodle bastante grande corriendo por la casa, elegimos cera derretida en lugar de velas, ya que están libres de llamas. Queríamos ver si no solo podíamos crear un derretimiento que oliera increíble, sino que tampoco causara esos molestos dolores de cabeza. Rápidamente encontramos que el proceso era divertido y terapéutico, y adivina qué... ¡sin dolores de cabeza! Comenzamos a hacer una lluvia de ideas y a lanzar la idea de tomar esta nueva pasión encontrada y convertirla en una pequeña empresa. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de anunciar que lanzaremos oficialmente el 1 de febrero de 2021!
Estoy aún más emocionada de poder llamar a mi hijo del medio, Kollin, mi socio comercial. Actualmente tiene 7 años y está en 2º grado. Ya está muy claro que él es el cerebro creativo detrás de Lock & Key Home Scents. ¡Trae una visión tan divertida y juvenil a la mesa y tiene algunas ideas de marketing increíbles bajo la manga! ¡Nos encantan nuestros derretimientos de cera y esperamos que lo hagas!
I have been a military spouse for almost 13 years. In that time we have packed up and moved 6 different times and added 3 boys to our family. Our most recent move meant leaving my teaching job and moving to a small town nestled approx. 30 miles north of Key West, FL. We purchased a fixer upper (sight unseen!!) and were less than thrilled to find a rather strange smell lingering no matter how much we scrubbed. I hadn't burned a candle or used wax melts in almost 10 years because of the headaches I would get, but I was determined to find a way to fill our home with welcoming scents.
What started out as a way to stay busy during my husband's deployments, my middle son and I began creating soy wax melts with the cleanest fragrances we could find. With 3 boys and our rather large Goldendoodle running through the house, we chose wax melts rather than candles since they are flame-free. We wanted to see if we could not only create a melt that would smell amazing, but that wouldn't cause those pesky headaches either. We quickly found the process to be fun and therapeutic, and guess what... no headaches! We began brainstorming and tossing around the idea of taking this new found passion and growing it into a small business. We are extremely proud to announce we are officially launching February 1, 2021!
I am even more excited to be able to call my middle son, Kollin, my business partner. He is currently 7 years old and in the 2nd grade. It is already very clear that he is the creative mastermind behind Lock & Key Home Scents. He brings such a fun and youthful vision to the table and has some amazing marketing ideas up his sleeve! We love our wax melts and hope you do to!
