Shipping

"Ready-to-Ship" pieces ship in 1-2 business days
"Made-to-Order" pieces ship in 6 weeks

**NEW - UPS SHIPPING ON ALL USA ORDERS**
Effective immediately, the default shipping method of my shop will be UPS instead of USPS for all domestic orders, and this is still included in the price. Please be sure to include a street address. PO boxes and international orders will continue to be shipped via USPS.

Color Disclaimer

I strive to photograph and edit my photographs accurately to show what the colors look like in full spectrum light -- not in normal everyday lighting. Please keep in mind that all pieces are photographed in a light box in order to show the intense colors present in the glazes. The color of the piece in normal lighting WILL NOT be as vibrant as they are under the photography lighting.

Custom Pieces

All stoneware is unique and thrown by hand. It will not look like the photograph in the end if you're purchasing a made-to-order piece.

Sizing

-Capacities listed are the the comfortable use capacity, which allows for approximately 1/4"-1/2" down from the rim.
-Sizes are approximate on custom-made pieces and may vary depending on the shape of the piece.
-If you're ordering a rounded shape, it will hold more than the capacity listed -- if in doubt, order the smaller size.

Stoneware Care

All pieces from my studio are lead-free, food-safe, microwave safe, dishwasher safe and oven safe. Pieces are not tested for freezer or stovetop use - such use is not recommended and is not warrantied.

Warranty/Returns

I stand behind my workmanship 100% and want you to be happy with your stoneware for years to come! If something odd happens with your piece that isn't a result of misuse, please take some detailed photos and contact me. If it is something I feel was caused by a production flaw, I will remake it at no charge.

If you are not happy with the color, shape, or size of your piece, please contact me before posting a negative review. I would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern if possible.

Cheers!
Amanda 😊

About LohtuCeramics

Sales 2,567
On Etsy since 2018

Potter (noun) - one who makes useful things from dirt and crushed rocks.

I began my ceramics journey in the summer of 2016 on a whim. Always the creative type, and an avid gardener, I told my husband that I just had a feeling that pottery was something I would be good at. After all, I enjoy getting my hands dirty and love physics and balance.

After purchasing my wheel and kiln, I successfully threw a small bowl. I was so proud of it! However my success ended soon after. It was a very difficult thing to learn using only my senses and YouTube. But after months of failures, things started to come together. Using the wheel became comfortable to me. Now I throw by feeling alone, without templates, allowing each piece to become what it wants to be. Every piece is truly unique.

Despite my ability to pick up the art, it took over a year until I was producing pieces that I felt were worthy of selling. I originally launched my business as Whimsy Studio, and had what I considered to be a good level of success throughout the 2017 holiday season. But as my skill progressed I realized that I didn't want to make whimsical things -- I love simple beautiful pieces. As a mug-lover myself, I wanted to make pieces that my customers would want to use every day. After a couple months of downtime, I relaunched as Lohtu Ceramics in April 2018.

So my journey continues. I know that I will continue to find my personal style in the ceramics industry, but my goal will always be the same. I want to create something beautiful for you and for those you love -- something cherished and reached for in those special little moments - when you have a chance to take a sit back and breathe a little deeper.

Cheers!
Amanda

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I do accept custom and personalized orders, but such orders may be subject to additional fees and/or processing time.

Sizing details

I try to include all sizing details within each listing. As a general rule, each piece is priced according to the amount of raw clay that I use to make it, and the time involved for the process.

For custom mugs, the size range listed is a general guideline so you can choose a capacity range you would be happy with. Mugs ordered with that capacity range are guaranteed to fall within that range when completed, but may be slightly larger in capacity when finished depending on the mug shape.

Please contact me for additional questions pertaining to size.

Care instructions

All of my pieces are:

- lead-free
- dishwasher safe
- oven safe
- microwave safe

They are not guaranteed to be freezer safe or if you live up north - 'forgot it outside in the blizzard' safe.

If you experience a workmanship failure of any type please contact me. In most cases I will be willing to replace the piece, unless it is obviously the result of a concussive failure from dropping, etc.

Wholesale availability

I am not accepting wholesale orders at this time.
