About

I'm a wife, a mother and passionate crafter.

I have been creating since I could hold a crayon. Making things has always been a part of who I am. Creating is my biggest passion. I love color and I am obsessed with beautiful fabric.

I learned to sew ages ago in a middle school home economics class. I really didn't start sewing again until 2011. And it was like riding a bike. I picked it back up and have never looked back.

I am so in love with sewing that I even draft my own patterns now without batting an eye. I love the challenge of custom work and learning new things about myself and pushing my limits of creativity along the way.

I used to work in Corporate America, stuck in a cubicle behind 2 computer screens. I did not live a very creative life and I wanted out. With the support of my husband and my daughter, I began exploring my creative side, and the ideas have flowed freely ever since. I began making and gifting dolls, paintings, quilts and anything else I could dream up for my nephews and my nieces. With the encouragement of family, I began making things to sell and now with the help of Etsy and social media, I get to wake up to my dream job everyday.

To tell you my story, is to tell one about a man I never met, who has taught me the biggest lesson in my life... my Grand-Dad. He was a tailor but also worked full time. He had apprenticed under his grandfather who was trained in New York. My grand dad always wanted to open his own tailor shop just like his father and grandfather before him. He dreamed of doing that after he retired. He even built an addition to his home with a separate entrance for his clients. He also worked a Civil Service job for nearly 40 years. During that time, he made beautiful one of kind dresses, coats, quilts and suits for his wife and children. He planned on retiring but would always say, one more year, one more year....

He finally retired, and the day his very first retirement check came in the mail, he passed away. He never got to see his dream realized. He worked so hard for someone else. He literally gave his all. I never met my grandpa. He passed away 2 years before I was born. But I can't help but wonder why he waited so long to pursue his dream. One thing I take away from this very personal story is that you need to live each day with immense passion and do what you love. Life is precious and fragile and it goes by too fast.

I am currently in the process of restoring my Grand-dads sewing machine. (It was his father's). It has sat unused for almost 40 years. I would love to use his machine and in my own way, honor his dream while realizing mine. Perhaps that's what was meant to be all along...

Thank you for reading my story and most importantly, thank you for supporting handmade. All artists and makers have a story to tell about themselves and their inspiration, and I am glad to have shared mine with you.
