Creating something beautiful

My journey starts with color and creativity. Ironically, I never thought of myself as a creative person until about 2012. Yes, I had creative hobbies, but it wasn't until I really let go and learned to enjoy making things with my hands that I really understood what I could do!

I was an exclusive shopper of all the brand named items in my early 20's. Through college and leaving college, I had a decent job, decent pay, etc. But, due to some crazy circumstances I ended up being flat broke. And of course, that's when I met my husband. Hey, new boyfriend, I can't put gas in my car, but I'm on a 3 Starbucks a day IV drip. LOL You can tell I had my priorities a little backward.

What I learned over the next year completely turned my world on its head. This new guy would come over and we would cook a meal at my apartment or his! We would shop for FRESH ingredients, or get something from his mom's garden. We would cook on a budget and have a beautiful meal. All of a sudden I realized I could budget, save money and have things I made for myself. And then my creative side completely took over!

I learned to cook Indian food and Thai. I made things from scratch. Realizing that food was not the only thing that I could create, I picked back up crocheting (which I had learned as a child from my great grandmother, Bami). I learned how to quilt and sew. And then, like magic, I learned to knit.

Socks! Yes, my first knitting project ever was socks. Every yarn store I went into thought I was absolutely insane. "Try something easier, like a scarf." I was determined. I only unraveled it 3 times and redid the heel on the last attempt only twice. BOTH socks fit and I didn't have one-sock-syndrome! Hallelujah!

Next task, find yarn that I completely drooled over. I ended up with some local artists' hand-dyed yarn to work with - and WOW! Yarn can be hand dyed?! I was so excited to learn that I could create art like that. My now-husband who has encouraged me to do and try new things, bought me some dye and the rest is... well, the future!

I love creating yarn and new combinations of color. I love being creative everyday and making yarn colorways that people will make into gifts, treasured heirlooms, and everyday joy.

I post everything yarny related on social media and occasionally you'll see bits of my personal life as well.

While I'm still growing, I appreciate every scrap of support you can give me with your orders, reviews, comments, likes, favorites, conversations, suggestions, etc.

Thank you so much!

Returns and exchanges
I want you to be absolutely pleased with your purchase. If you would like to return an item in its original condition, you may do so within 14 days of receiving your order. Please contact me to make arrangements for returns or exchanges. I cannot exchange or refund your order after this 14 day period, so please make sure you are happy with your purchase upon receiving your items. You are responsible for return shipping expenses, unless an error was made on my part. Shipping charges will not be refunded.

For custom request, dyed to order, and Yarn of the Month: all sales are final.
Once payment is received, ready-to-ship items will ship within 1-3 business days (M-F), tonal color ways will be ready to ship in 7-9 business days (M-F). Please allow 3 weeks for any Dyed to Order requests.

If an order is placed for ready-to-ship items and dyed to order items I will hold all items until the dyed to order item is ready to shipment (7-9 business days for tonals, 3 weeks for custom requests). If you would like your ready to ship items to be shipped immediately please place separate orders. If you decide later you'd like them to ship separately, let me know and I can invoice you through Paypal for separate shipping charges.

All items will be shipped via the United States Postal Service.

Please double check your shipping profile on your Etsy account, I will ship to the address you use on your Etsy profile. If there is an issue delivering to the address you provide, and it is returned to me, you will be responsible for the re-shipping costs.

Just as a reminder. Once the item leaves my hands, the postal service is responsible to get it to you within the time frame.

I do not combine orders to ship together. We get hundreds of orders a week and it has become impossible for me to be able to keep up with multiple orders.

Shipping TIP for US customers: 3 skeins is the weight max for First Class shipping (the cheapest method). So it's always going to be cheaper to ship one package of 3 skeins, and a second package of 3 (or less) skeins. Once you reach 7+ skeins it's cheaper to put them all in one order.

I use calculated shipping on my shop, so you get an accurate price of shipping costs via USPS when you check out. The cost is determined by weight and size of each package. Once in a while, there are overages on shipping charges when Etsy doesn't take into consideration that I can use a cheaper shipping method. When/if that happens, I will refund you back the overage if it's over $1.

I ship to 196 countries around the world! If you do not see your country listed it's either because it is part of the US Embargo, or I cannot get shipping insurance in your country.

I am not responsible for shipping delays or customs charges. I will always include a receipt in your package and on the customs form I will list the items with the correct value.

In my experience, it generally takes 1-3 weeks to ship to Canada, Europe, and the UK, but delays can happen.

The rest of the world takes a bit longer generally 2-4 weeks, but sometimes up to 10 weeks. Please be patient, but if you have questions or concerns, never hesitate to reach out.

If there is a delay with customs, please remember it can take up to 10 weeks to get the package to you.

I am not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit or postal errors. There is always a shipping confirmation and tracking that the item left my hands and got to the United States Postal Service. For most countries, tracking stops when it leaves the US border.

{Domestic US Shipping Insurance}
First Class Mail does not have any insurance for lost or damaged packages.

Priority Mail has insurance to cover the value of the package, the claims are filed through USPS.

Additional Shipping Insurance (including for First Class Domestic Mail), you just need to message me and ask! You can either Paypal me the extra cost or I can create a listing for you.

Items Valued At:
$0 - $100 is $1.00
$100 - $199 is $2.50
$200 - $299 is $3.00

*If your package is lost and you have this type of insurance, I can file a claim and send you a replacement package. Additional shipping cost for second package is your responsibility.

{International Shipping Insurance}
Please message me that you would like to purchase insurance and I'll give you the insurance cost, so you're covered if there is ever an issue with a lost or damaged package. It is very affordable, and a great way to cover yourself. For additional insurance, I will invoice through Paypal.

All international orders over $100 will have additional insurance on the package.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

Yarn Care: For best results hand wash in cold water, with unscented wool wash. Lay flat to dry.

Detergent: I use unscented Eucalan on all my yarn. I rinse all of my yarn at least twice in water to make sure the water is running clear, and then soak it in Eucalan for 10-15 minutes. Minimal bleeding can occur on the first few washes. I do not recommend any type of scented detergent or non-wool wash as they can cause bleeding. Using an unscented wool-specific wash is best.

Custom and personalized orders

I restock the shop all the time with my regular colorways, if there is one you’d like to see in a shop update soon, let me know. I consistently dyed sweater quantities on fingering weight.

I'm not taking Dye to Order requests for my current colorways, unless it is for sweater quantities on Simple DK or Simple Worsted.

If you have a custom colorway idea in my signature style, I do those all the time and love them! Because of the time requirements and typically will need to dye a few test skeins, there is a $10 USD additional fee.

All custom orders will be given a custom listing, which needs to be paid up front before I start dyeing.

I make all announcements on social media.
