Frequently asked questions

I have curly hair; is this product curly-girl friendly?

Yes!

It's excellent for all curly hair types, and many curlies use it in many different ways. It's a conditioner, co-wash, detangler, and a leave-in. Even hair stylists use it in different ways. I encourage you to experiment and observe how your hair responds, and then adjust your routine accordingly.

If you're not into all the fancy complicated routines, this is an awesome conditioner you can use after shampooing.

I have straight hair can I still use this conditioner?

Totally!

Although this product is great for curly hair, it's just as good for straight hair. In fact, the reason I don't mention the word "curly" anywhere on the bottle is because it's great for all hair types.

I've never co-washed before, what is it and how do I do it?

Co-washing is a method of cleaning your scalp and roots with conditioner and friction. When done properly, you will create a light lather or foam (not as dense or sudsy as shampoo).

The best method uses a soft silicone scalp scrubber to exfoliate and emulsify product build-up/natural oils into the lather, which is finally rinsed away.

Massage LHDC into your scalp and start scrubbing. Add more product, scrub, and splash with water until you get a nice lather. Detangle and fully rinse your hair and scalp. Re-apply if you use LHDC as a leave-in.

Scalp scrubbers are a game changer and they significantly cut down on the amount of product, effort, and time needed. They are widely available and usually under $10

I have a trip soon; can I take the mini LHDC on planes?

Yes! My mini bottles are TSA compliant. They are 2.3 oz which is well below the 3.4 oz limit. You can actually take as many as will fit into a 1 quart clear plastic bag.
