Turning passion into production.

Welcome to my lab, in whatever current form it may be. I currently reside with my wife and newborn son in beautful Santa Cruz, CA, where we attempt to make a living and enjoy the day-to-day. By day, I'm a children's behavioral counselor working to get enough hours to become an LMFT. By any other time I'm not working, I enjoy creative pursuits and getting outdoors.

I find my church in the outdoors, beneath the dense canopy of the trees, and amidst the slapping of shorebreak to the face. It's a message that is so simple and pure, it's impossible to ignore. It's gospel is visual, appreciated with the eyes, absorbed with the soul.

Building "The Studio" is my lifelong project. It's the home of all the pictures I take and edit, and all the music I make that I don't share. It's the spot for creative flow and to break away from whatever crazy is going on in the world or whatever monotony occurs in the daily living. Your support in purchasing helps to push this project further, wherever that may lead.

If you are here reading this, I thank you for your time, and know that I appreciate your patronage even if you are only just looking at the photos!

I picked up a camera around 14 years ago, started shooting seriously about 9 years ago, and have been doing it "professionally" for around 7 years. I am constantly looking to expand my equipment and approach, to keep my work both fresh and inspiring.

Hello and welcome to my shop, Look Don't Speak. My name is Andrew and I've been getting progressively deeper and deeper into the world of photography through the last ten years. I picked up my first serious camera in 2004 for a black and white photography class and have built from there. I currently shoot with a Nikon D610 on land, and a Nikon D7000 in water.

The pictures you see here are my world and are what makes me who I am. I have come to specialize in fine art landscape and surf photography, while occasionally shooting photos for clients in the form of engagement, wedding, and event photography.

I've been through school, worked at a start-up tech company, and through the dissatisfaction of both those paths, found myself back at square one, still shooting, only with higher grade equipment and the drive to take better and more immersive photos.

In studying psychology, I came across the theory of Flow, which has since been the core of my philosophy through my twenties. Photography has shown me a great connection to this mind state. Even though you are capturing it through a lens, it teaches you to not only actively appreciate the present moment, but to seek out more novel and invigorating experiences, which I believe to be the basis for a satisfactory, and well lived life.

I print all my photos through a local professional photo lab, as I've found they produce the highest quality product in any lab I've seen, but I can potentially ship it from another supplier, should it make more sense for shipping cost purposes.

I'm still drafting out the details for this shop, so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me a message.
