Announcement   Classic hand knit hats in a variety of styles and fibers. Hand knitted Christmas stockings, big and small. Knitted stuffed animals and hand puppets.

In the 2014 December issue of Redbook magazine, one of my mini stockings was featured as a silverware holder for a holiday table. 😊

Please check out my Stash Buster Hats section. All knitters have a growing stash of leftover yarns. From my stash, I match colors and mix fibers to hand knit truly one of a kind hats, and I list them at a discount in my Stash Buster Hats section. Perhaps you will find a hat that is just your style, with just your color choice, and at a discount.

If you like an item in my shop, but want a different color or fiber? Do you have a hat you lost and want replaced? Or do you want a duplicate of a Christmas stocking for a new family member? If you have a photo, we might be in luck. Send me a message with the photo and I'll see if I can approximate your item. I welcome custom requests.

Most of my items are knit on skinny needles (almost the size of chopsticks) with worsted weight yarn. A tighter knit fabric results. All knitted items are knit by hand and by me, no machine knitting.

LoopsAndLines is a one person shop. I knit, sew, email, package, ship, and purchase all materials. I appreciate your support of my handmade business.

Please use PayPal to purchase your item. I have turned off Direct checkout /gift card option (Etsy) & only accept Paypal payments for now.
Here's how to use Paypal option allowing you to use your major debit & credit cards as well as your PayPal account if you have one. Select the PayPal dial/button at checkout to finish your transaction.
Once You're Redirected to PayPal:
1.) Instead of choosing to pay with your PayPal account, select the option to pay with a debit or credit card.
2.) You'll then be prompted to fill in your billing and credit card information.
3.) You'll need to enter your email address so PayPal can send you a receipt.
4.) Click Continue to return to Etsy Checkout to review and submit your final order.
Your payment isn't sent until you click Submit Order on Etsy.

New pattern reminiscent of 1950's smocked dresses.
On the needles! This gray hat is the same pattern as the light tan one, but the fiber is 100% acrylic, very soft with flecks of darker and lighter gray.

About

All Day Long

When I was a child, my favorite book was All Day Long Book. It contained sketches of little girls in dresses, anklet socks, and saddle shoes creating things with everyday items. I kept that book under my bed with a shoebox of supplies. That book kept me busy, all day long.

Grandma was a knitter. Every Christmas, she hand knit sweaters for my three sisters and me. I have a cream cardigan with hand knit badges sewn on, tucked away in a box with my smocked dresses. I inherited my grandmother's knitting needles and her Susan Bates stitch counter that I use every day.

I learned how to knit from Joyce D in 1988. My first project was a red cable knit cardigan sweater. Loved the cables, the style, but not the yarn . . . acrylic. It's good for some things, but not sweaters. I have an armoir packed with sweaters I have knitted. I love Jean Frost and Debbie Bliss and Rowan and Jaeger and Noro patterns. My favorite yarn shop is NW Wools in Multnomah Village, Portland, Oregon. They are so helpful there, and when I purchase too much yarn for a sweater, they will accept full skeins in return even several months after purchase.

One year, I knit 19 Christmas stockings for my sisters and their families: forest green and burgundy chubby stockings for two families, blue with white eyelash cuffs for another, green and red striped jester stockings for my parents. I knit purple, forest green, and cream colored stockings for my family, untraditional but they go with my living room. The following year, I knit hats for my family. During the Christmas Eve gathering at my parents' house, I enjoyed watching as the youngest child opened the big box and pulled out dozens of hats. Everyone tried them on and selected the one they liked best.

I happened upon Etsy when I was considering selling my knitted items and searching for a way online. Setting up shop has been a learning experience for me: taking photographs, writing descriptions, determining prices, researching shipping costs, figuring out SEO, promoting my shop. Something new every day. I look forward to more knitting and learning.

I am registered with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission as a Small Batch Manufacturers and all materials used in my products for children are in compliance with children's product safety rules.
