Announcement    Handmade items crafted from leather & wood. Humble materials used thoughtfully. Leather & Wood. Bags, Jewelry, Accessories, Home Goods. Proudly designed & made by a Catawba Indian woman.

My grandmothers were both members of the Lost Generation. They were young mothers during the Great Depression, and lived in a world far simpler, yet harder, than the one we live in today. These two tiny women loomed large in the lives of those around them. One was a seamstress and square dancer, the other was a homemaker who sewed dresses for her 7 daughters out of flour sacks. These women worked with their hands to provide for their families. Both did so with the utmost of care, and passed on their skills and crafts to future generations.

Today, I work simply and neatly as I imagine they would today. Using humble materials and maintaining a high attention to detail. Collecting scraps, as they always did, to use in smaller pieces so that nothing goes to waste. All pieces are designed and made by me in my home studio.

About

Using natural materials in a manner that is respectful to the source, sustainable, and that reduces waste as much as humanly possible.

MANIFESTO:

We love the beauty of our natural world. We believe that natural materials can be used in a way that is both respectful to and the source, as well as ultimately sustainable. We love when wood looks like wood and leather looks like leather. We create pieces that showcase the core material. We match each item’s style to the structure of the material used to create it. We don’t force a material into a particular shape just because we are human and want to. We read the materials and allow them to take a form that we can love on day one, and continue to love every day thereafter.

ABOUT:
All items are handmade in Austin, Texas. Wood pieces are created from scraps (or “offcuts”) generated in home and boutique woodsheds also in Austin. Leather pieces include large bags as well as small items in order to utilize as much of each hide as possible. Every piece of lumber and every leather hide is different, and so our finished pieces should be expected to vary somewhat from the last and the next. They are one of a kind, and once in a lifetime.
