Doing what I love, loving what I do

I think that a big part of someone comes from how they identify themselves with their work. This definitely rings true for me and my love for being an artist. I've been a professional artist for over 12 years now and there's hardly anything else I would rather identify myself by.

Shooting landscapes has always been a passion of mine ever since I picked up my first DSLR in college, an old Pentax I snagged off of ebay. It wasn't until a trip to Alaska in 2014 that I thought about sharing those images from the trip on an etsy page. Thus my page was born and it was quite a while later that woodworking found its way into my life as well.

For a stent we had to live in Houston, TX and it was a dark time for me. The place was the polar opposite of a nature lovers paradise. Gone were the mountains I was used to seeing every day and it eventually wore on me. In an effort to bring a bit of that back into my life I decided to make some furniture for our house that reminded me of it. The very first piece was a Denali Series headboard. I liked the design so much that I thought it might be a good idea to add it to my etsy site. The designs eventually evolved into the portfolio I have today.

The recent addition of a laser cutter has changed my work exponentially. I can now do incredibly complicated designs that I could only dream of before. The sky is the limit now and I'm eager to see what the future brings for my work.

Being born and raised in the mountain state of WV I was naturally drawn to nature and all things outdoors. I went to school for fine art photography and was instantly drawn to landscapes. It's also found its way into my woodworking as well.
