About

Pursue Your Passion Whenever and Wherever You Decide.

After years of working in the corporate arena and spending some time in Europe I had a real life wake up call at the age of 55. Almost 13 years ago I survived tongue cancer and decided that I wanted to pursue a passion in my life. For many years while working in corporate positions I was always creating fashionable things and selling in small quantities in some cities in the US. We had just moved to Asia and my crisis began.

Jumping forward – my desire to live and do something – basically saved my life. I was an American living in a foreign and struggling to learn how to design and manufacture. I could write an entire “how to book” on this subject alone.

I wanted to create things that I wanted and could not find here. I chose to create fashion that was multi-functional and could bring some quirky fun into people’s lives through creative fashion, colors and combinations.

I knew from the beginning that I had basic principals that I wanted to adhere to and to achieve and this could only be done if I set up my own complete operation. Although small by most people’s definitions it has worked out quite well. I can control what I source, what I create and what we produce.

My basic simple goals were to produce:

• items where quality was more important than quantity.
• garments or accessories that had multi-functionality and would be great for travel.
• limited pieces of each fabric and color selections offering some exclusivity.
• Create by hand cutting and tailor-made sewing (with hand rolled seams where possible).
• coordination the use of colors for fabrics, prints and threads were big issues for me.

I personally design the items and source ALL the materials (right down to all the findings and threads) myself. I oversee all of the production of each item with a small group of ladies that have worked for me since I began. An incredible feat all unto itself.

I chose to start and grow small. Over the years I had the unique opportunity to be chosen to have several well-known people wear my items. I opened 6 retail shops in 5 Star Hotels. I have had the privilege of creating some items for other brands and supplied to them for their label.

I really enjoyed spending time in my shops and seeing the delight women found when they finally decided to try different color choices and combinations.

I discovered that the stress and management was something that took me away from creating beautiful things for people to wear and enjoy. I made the decision to close my shops and go on-line with my collections. Another endeavor I have undertaken at a semi-advanced age.

I have also chosen to go away from any branding that I had done in the past and go back to basics as Louisa Girod Creations; incorporating here all the product mix that I have done over the years.

My philosophy is that you should not be bound by your age or be limited to what you want to achieve.

I sincerely hope that when you purchase something from my collections that you receive not only a fine quality item – but something that is a little special and adds some beauty and joy to your life.

Please keep coming back – as I will be adding new items continually.
