I used to sell vintage home decor on Etsy, and after my son was born I knew I would have to make some changes.
I wouldn't be able to leave at the drop of a hat to go to an auction, flea market or estate sale and search for hours on end to find those hidden treasures. Now that I had a baby to think about, I had to find a way that I could stay home with my son, still support our family, as well as have a creative outlet. I had a nice collection of vintage jewelry, and I kept buying these gorgeous antique rhinestone jewelry pieces. They kept piling up in my jewelry box, and I never really wore them. Then one day I thought, this would look really cool if the stones were turquoise. So when my son was only 2 months old, I started at my dining room table, removing each rhinestone one by one and painting them, sealing them and re-setting them. It was extremely time consuming, and my first bracelet took me 2 weeks! I was ecstatic with the look of it, now it was something I could wear every day. But there had to be a better way, and I kept experimenting and I developed a more streamlined way to paint the jewelry, so it took me a couple of hours for each piece, not a few days! I thought, maybe someone would buy these...let me give it a shot- and that is how Love Obsessed was born! I listed 2 pieces in my shop, and 2 days later someone bought both of them! Then I painted a few more, and she bought those as well, she was my first customer and she bought 14 pieces from me in 2 weeks! She gave me the motivation to do the jewelry full time, and to this day I am very grateful to every single customer, blogger, and fan who gives me the momentum to keep going, and the ability to stay at home with my son- thank you!
