just a little vintage obsession
Welcome to Lucca Bales Vintage.
Lucca Bales is the love child of an urban artist and a hard working country boy. Spend any time browsing the items in the shop and you'll probably agree - it looks like its parents. If you are looking for anything creative, unique, and industrial, you'll find that mom has you covered. Rustic, primitive, and solid? Dad's domain.
We have a handful of requirements for the vintage items we put into our shop. First, we will only sell authentic vintage items. While there is a place for vintage-style reproductions, this ain't it. The history of our treasures is what appeals to us, and we're only interested in featuring pieces with a colorful history.
Second, we want our treasures to be in decent shape. We understand that when an item is over 100 years old, it's going to show. And we love a good patina as much as the next guy. We just want to ensure that you're receiving a quality item. We'll be sure to let you know in our item descriptions if there are any structural or cosmetic defects. No surprises.
Finally, we're looking for vintage cool. Skinny ties in bold colors? Reclaimed woods? Midcentury barware?...or home décor?...or, well, anything? We want it. And, honestly, we probably have it.
TELL ME WHY
So, why a little vintage shop?
When Chris and I met, we realized that we didn't have many hobbies in common. While Chris's idea of a good night out always involved competition, fields, and ...well, competition..., my idea of fun was art shows, indie music, and travel. We finally found one place where our passions overlapped - junking.
Chris loves the thrill of digging through rickety barns, abandoned houses, and old basements looking for something that has been forgotten. He's also the knowledge-junky. He amazes me with his ability to retain information about vintage manufacturers, assess an item's value, and find the treasure among the trash. That analytical accountant brain of his makes it possible for me to do the fun stuff.
I love the artistic elements of junking. Give me a piece of junk, all covered in dust, rust, and age, and I will expose its lost beauty - through my words, my photography, and a little ole fashioned elbow grease. I've turned broken pots into planters, torn up books into wall art, and mismatched machine parts into furniture.
We love nothing more than roaming the farmhouses of Nebraska (or the old buildings in the Old Market) looking for vintage treasure. Anything you want us to try to find for you? We'd love to be your personal treasure hunters - just let us know! Otherwise, check out our shop to peruse what we've already uncovered.
Laura is a full time mom who plays with a camera, paints, and words. Her husband Chris is her co-owner and junking companion. Their little studio - full of rusty gold, photography equipment, and mounds of bubble wrap - is in Omaha, NE.
