About

Being in love with vintage means loving everyday of our life.

It all began in the early 90's with a green T-shirt my friend and I had passed back and fourth to one another that simply said "The Super". Every time I would wear it someone would say "I love that shirt, where did you get it"? They were always amazed when I said "its vintage". Hot Topics and Old navy were not yet in the business of replicating new shirts and making them look worn and wonderful, but rather if you wanted a shirt like that it had to actually be worn and wonderful. That still holds true to me today, with all the largest stores trying to replicate old metal designs with plastic non moving parts. They are all trying to replicate that true vintage feel, all the while being mass produced with a made in china sticker on the bottom. Nothing has a memory, rarely has it been made by hand and it never feels or looks like true vintage feels.

Any of us can and do go on line or walk into an Ikea, Pottery Barn or Target and find that lamp or end table that looks almost like something grandma use to have, but its not that exact something and not nearly as warm or well made. But it may the exact one your neighbor has, since its for sale on every store and every .com.

I have always decorated my home with items that I found while searching for the perfect vintage piece, I drove all over in search of what I wanted, spending weekend after weekend hunting for what I hoped I would find, what I knew I would come across if I kept looking and when I found out, wow, the celebration that followed! Some would say It was too much trouble, but not for me.

My love of vintage has been a great reward. When friends and family would come over and comment on my home and how "Warm" it always felt. I always paused to accept that compliment with such pride. Is there a better compliment than that? Not for me. Thats exactly why I had worked so hard, it was my home, where I wanted and needed to feel warmth and where I also wanted others to feel at home and welcome. If other felt at home in my home, it was the greatest gift vintage could give to me.

I always attributed the inviting feel in my home to the vintage goods I had surrounded it with, it was not an old lamp, but rather a lamp that had lit the home of a family I had never known, not just an old coffee percolator but a coffee pot that came out every time friends entered a home and was in the center of a table where years of stories had been shared. The mystery and comfort of household vintage goods made me feel like I had lived somewhere A lifetime, even if I had just moved in.

Like so many of us out there, I have searched for what my purpose was in life and what I was truly good at. It took me a long time to realize what I had been looking for had been with me my entire life, I had a gift of making any ordinary space feel like it was a home, not only for myself but for others.

This year I decided to finally I take the advice of my father who always told me "if you do what you love, you will never feel like you are working a day in your life" and he was right, I don't feel like I am working, I feel like I am creating, with every vintage piece I discover, I create a new burst of cozy, familiar and inviting vintage not just for my house, but now for yours.

With my partner Erin as a constant source of encouragement I created Lucky Seven Vintage to bring all things vintage right to you, passing on the lived in, "where did you get that" look that so many strive to achieve but sometimes struggle to put together.
