100% of profits from LucyClimbs merchandise goes directly to safe water projects in rural villages in developing countries. LucyClimbs exists to help bring safe water to the millions of people worldwide living without access to this basic human need.

Lucy, an eighteen-year-old environmental changemaker living in Los Angeles, California, is the founder of LucyClimbs, an organization on a mission to help combat our world’s water crisis. As a 2022 winner of the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, Lucy was granted a $10,000 award to continue her fieldwork in East Africa installing WaterStep M-100 Chlorine Generators in rural villages that have never had access to safe water. As one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all,” Lucy is currently studying Public Policy at the University of Southern California with the goal of becoming a global policy leader helping the United Nations reach this goal.

To date, LucyClimbs has raised more than $30,000 to bring safe water technology to the developing world by hosting used shoe drives, selling LucyClimbs merchandise, and climbing the world’s highest mountains. On May 12, 2022, Lucy became the youngest American woman to summit Mount Everest, holding her LucyClimbs ‘Fight for Safe Water’ flag on the top of the world. Lucy also holds the world record as the youngest woman to summit the highest mountain in each of the 50 U.S. states. Her next goal is to become the youngest person to complete the Explorers Grand Slam (highest mountain on each continent and skiing the last degree to the North and South poles). To date, she has reached the summit of five of the highest continental mountains with a WaterStep/LucyClimbs flag: Kilimanjaro (Africa), Elbrus (Europe), Denali (North America), Aconcagua (South America), and Everest (Asia).

Using her climbing platform to further her mission of raising money and awareness for our world’s water crisis, Lucy has received extensive media coverage for her mountaineering successes. In the week following her ascent of Mt Everest alone, she was featured on the following shows: Today Show, NBC News Now, Good Morning America 3, Nightly News Kids Edition, Inside Edition, Fansided, NBC Chicago, ABC Chicago and Fox Chicago. This list continues to grow daily as she pursues her goal of completing the Explorers Grand Slam.

In 2022, Lucy was a recipient of the Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award at the ESPYS and recognized as a ‘history maker’ at the 2022 Women’s Sports Foundation Annual Salute to Women in Sports.
