Hi there! I'm taking some time off from pincushion-making to learn a new skill- small format tapestry weaving! My plan is to create little woven vignettes that I can incorporate into needle books and the like.

I first discovered the wonderful Swedish-Flemish weavings from the 1960s here on Etsy, and combined with some fabulous 17th century Aubusson fragments I was lucky to find (see the shop From a French Attic, also here on Etsy), I realized that I really wanted to learn this weaving style and make it my own.

My shop is still open and I will return with more critter pincushions at a later date. And of course, I am always available via convo:)

Have a lovely summer!

Arrived very fast! Now I just have to get up the motivation to stitch it together. Looks like it will be really cute when I'm finished.

As always, good shop owner exchanges, quick shipping and books arrived in great condition. Thank you!

About

Handstitched pincushions inspired by nature

I've enjoyed hand sewing and making little critters all my life. My first effort at age eight was a family of muskrats made from an old fur coat.
I loved that when you finally stitched on the eyes, the critter suddenly sprang to life!

Years and years later, I am here on Etsy, still making critters and other natural beings from my favorite media-- vintage textiles, stoneware clay, and felted wool sweaters.

Hello!
Lucy's Locket specializes in pincushions that evoke times past when sewing was both vocation and avocation…

I use antique and vintage fabrics and trims to create my original designs. Sometimes, a modern-made textile slips in because its color or pattern is perfect for the image in my mind's eye.

These pincushions are not only pleasing to look at, but are functional and as sturdy as can be! Each one is carefully cut and hand-stitched, a process that often takes several days to complete. I cannot think of anything I would rather be doing >^^<
