This print is amazing. I received it today and the quality of the wrapping was excellent. A small plastic folder (which contained the print) was taped to a hardfoam board which was wrapped witb paper and transported in a padded enveloppe. Fantastic transportation and the print itsself is of a very high quality. I framed it right away!! Keep an eye in this maker. He is going to make more fantastic stuff!

The art of printmaking

I was always involved in creative stuff. As a child I was "the guy who draws", I used to go to museums, events, exhibitions, I was involved in new circus as a juggler (at some point I used to juggle 6-8 hours a day), I am landscape architect by education. For years I haven't created anything for me, just for a joy of creation. Then, in some point of my life when I had more time after work I started to play with different techniques like pencil, watercolors, digital painting including pixel art, papercraft, ink. I have tried printmaking actually by accident: I started to draw popculture icons like Alien or Superman stylized as medieval and renaissance woodcuts. And then I said to myself: why do I DRAW them? I can PRINT like artists ages ago!
My first linoprints were very simple, stylized as old engravings. One work by one I started to develop my own style which is still evolving. I have discovered the whole modern printmaking world that is surprisingly big (but not THAT big in Poland, where, for example good supplies like inks are hard or impossible to find and you have to import them) and creative! I am proud to be a part of this world.

WHAT IS LINOCUT ACTUALLY?
Linocut is an art technique of hand carving a desired shape (mirorred) on linoleum tile and printing it on surface. Ages ago it was mainly wood. The first step is designing. I do few projects on the paper, trying different lines, arrangement, composition... After that I put the pencil drawing on linoleum block. The carving is time consuming process that doesn't forgive mistakes. The errors such as careless chisel cutting or badly planned lines are very hard or even impossible to undo and you have to start everything again (or at least cut out the entire defective piece of lino). It can be calming and frustrating at the same time. I love the way the engraving process let me to express myself with wide range of emotrions. After that process the ink is carefully applied onto linoleum with the special roller. Its very important to control the amount of the ink on roller and linoleum and keep an eye on even distribution of ink on block. The last phase is the careful pressing the ink on paper. There are few tools to do it: spoons, special barens or professional presses. I still do it totally with my hand using metal and wooden spoon.
The print need to dry right amount of time depending of used ink.

I CARE ABOUT THE PARCEL
The very... I mean, very important think to me is to carefully prepare the parcel. The piece of paper is fragile. Some people roll it and put into cardboard tube but I don't want to bend it. I leave the artwork flat and secure against bending and moisture. I use few protections at the same time. You need to WANT to bend it to damage it, but still it's kinda hard;)
