So many sprinkles, so little time!
It's my day off, but I'm still working on some custom plugs and enjoying these sweet bean buns!
These are some of the ancient pliers and cutters I use to make some of my pieces, on the little wooden plier rack my dear ol' dad made me.

About

Kooky Geek With Addiction to Shinies

My addiction to creating began over 10 years ago. Art therapy like WOAH. I tinkered, failed, improvised, threw things, cursed loudly and threw my hands in the air a LOT until I discovered that I really enjoyed the whole process, especially the end results.

I have a crazy addiction to jewelry. I constantly struggle not to steal things from myself, because I love knowing that someone else is enjoying something I made. I definitely have a soft spot for everything I create.

A wide variety of things appeal to me, and I tend to enjoy things from opposite ends of the spectrum quite often, from glitter to stainless steel, rainbows to the macabre. Sometimes all at once, just to keep things interesting.

I am entirely self taught and though my creative space is limited, I try to make time to expand my knowledge and experiment with new things as often as possible.

Everything you see in my shop has been handcrafted by me, in my home/crafty space in Blacksburg, VA. Quality and integrity are quite important to me and I try my best to create pieces that others will adore as much as I do.

When I am not making delightfully kooky wearables, I am being entertained by my little furry minions, Kiki and Loki. I adore them so!

I also enjoy tattoos (getting them, others that have them), many sub-genres of rock and metal and playing World of Warcraft. Plate classes ftw!

As an 80's/early 90's kid, I experience great nostalgia over things like Care Bears, My Little Pony (old school!), Jem and the Holograms, Dinosaucers, and of course, Sailor Moon. I will wear combat boots with dresses and feel not ONE ounce of remorse. I acknowledge that music just hasn't been the same since the early 90's.

Creepy-cute is my thing, and I enjoy making things that prompt people to say "Wow, that's awesome!" or to just giggle.

Thanks for taking a peek at my shop and my story! Please send any questions you may have my way.

I create, therefore I...do not go entirely nuts. I've been crafting jewelry for over 10 years, I adore sushi, manga, tattoos/piercings, kitties, and am a WoW geek.

Frequently asked questions

Care Instructions/Precautions

To keep your plugs in their best condition, please don't wear them in water and keep them out of extreme heat and cold. Sleeping with dangle plugs in is likely to be uncomfortable, so I advise avoiding that as well. You can clean your plugs with a dab of alcohol on a cotton swab or with an alcohol wipe when needed. All jewelry in my shop is intended for adults only. My plugs are meant for healed lobes and are not to be used to stretch your ears.

Custom and personalized orders

If you are looking for a size/color combination that I don't have listed, please message me or request a custom order. I will be happy to work on a custom order for you.

Sizing details

All plugs are listed with mm sizes of the wearable area included. Please be aware that flared plug styles are 1mm-1.5mm larger at the flares, so if you are not used to wearing flared plugs, it will be best if you go with a no flare option instead. Also note that I scale my settings based on the size of the plugs, so not all plugs have the same size settings/gems/roses. Because of this, not all sizes are available in all colors. If you have any questions, message me and I'll let you know what colors are available in what sizes.

Plug Materials

I offer steel tunnels as an option for 10g thru 4g sizes. These tunnels are a bit heavier than acrylic, and may therefore cause the fronts to tip forward a bit in the lobes. If you have thinner lobes, have had much larger plugs and have gone down to a smaller size or are not accustomed to wearing steel tunnels, this is more of an issue. Wearing an O ring between your lobe and the tunnel back can help level things out a bit. If you are unsure or would like an alternative option, please message me!

Where do you buy your chains?

I weave all my chainmaille one little (or sometimes not-so-little) jump ring at a time, using my hands and my trusty ol' pliers.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I ship all items in jewelry gift boxes with ribbon, within plastic bubble mailers for added protection. If your order is a gift, I'll be glad to include a note. Just let me know in the "notes to seller" when you check out.

Shipping Addresses and Delivery

The correct address must be provided by you upon checking out. If your package has already shipped and you've provided the wrong address, I cannot issue a refund until the item returns to me in its original condition. If the item shows delivered to an incorrect address provided by you, I cannot issue a refund.

Chainmaile Materials and Cleaning

Anodized and Bright aluminum: Does not tarnish/change color, but anodized aluminum's color can wear/fade with frequent use, especially in water. Very lightweight, about 1/3 the weight of stainless steel. Bright aluminum is a very shiny silver.

Stainless Steel: Very durable. Won't tarnish, rust or need to be polished. More robust weight in comparison to aluminum. Not super shiny, more of a muted silver than bright aluminum.

Both stainless steel and bright/anodized aluminum can be cleaned using warm soapy water (like with Dawn dish detergent) and should not be cleaned with harsh chemicals.

Bronze/Brass/Copper: Start out shiny, then darken over time. Can be made shiny again with commercially available jewelry cleaners.

Metal and Acrylic Sensitivities

If you are allergic to specific metals or acrylic, please message me prior to purchase with any questions you have have about materials used to create my pieces. I offer niobium and titanium earwires for most of my chainmaille earrings. These are hypoallergenic and are great for sensitive ears. The stainless steel rings I used in my jewelry are alloy 304 and do contain nickel, but this alloy has less of a percentage of nickel than 316 alloy steel.

International Orders and VAT Information

Please note that order totals for orders outside the United States DO NOT include VAT/import duties, taxes, etc. These are the responsibility of the buyer and completely out of my control. In addition, please be aware that I am not able to mark items as "Gifts" on customs forms for any reason.
