Announcement   Custom jewelry design is available upon request.
Pricing is reflective of the quality of my designs. Using only the very best of conflict free and recycled materials that are available, I create lustrous, luxurious pearl and gemstone jewelry to last a lifetime - and beyond! I strive to create objects that are as individual as each person who might enjoy them.

Most (not all) of my designs can be ordered in various colors of gold if you desire. The silvers that I use are reclaimed and come in Sterling, Sterlium Plus, Argentium or Continuum grades. Please feel free to inquire about any design you are interested in to see if I can make it in the metal and color of your choice.

Pearls are unique by their very nature as organic gemstones. I hunt the best quality pearls available from all over the world. I do not use glass, plastic, shell or other factory made pearls. All my Pearls were made by an actual oyster or mussel bivalve. Some are grown in salt water oceans, some in freshwater lakes or streams.

The ring sizing, casting and all that stuff that I am not zoned for where I live, or that would give my insurance agent the heavie geavies, is done at Jewel-Craft in Erlanger, KY. I work with Mike and Angie over there. They see to it that everything is done exactly to my specifications.

I usually have two assistants at any given time. They are always both University of Kentucky students. They come from many diverse backgrounds. Some are graduate students, others undergraduate. Their majors range from Pre-Med, to History, to International Studies, to Architecture to.....

Trey Cardwell (just starting grad school in public health) is doing all the photography. He will be assisted this semester by MacKenzie Yeiser (undergrad in architecture).

Thank you for looking! Enjoy LusterWear!

I have been buying pearls from Carolyn for quite awhile now, and I can tell you that they are some of the most special pearls that I have seen. Carolyn also takes special care in packing and providing care instructions. This pearl here that I got...absolutely gorgeous.

About

From the deep woods to the world

LusterWear started from the desire to publish my work to a wider audience. Originally intended to showcase and feature my paintings and pottery, I decided to include my jewelry designs as well. During my search for a viable platform I came across Etsy.
I liked the idea of a community of makers all accessible in one place.

Having lived in Kentucky, California, Minnesota, New York, South Carolina, Delaware, and Texas my influences are diverse domestically, and internationally varied do to my extended family.

I named my studio Laudable Mud Studio which originated from my realization that everything beautiful, fascinating, and useful is associated with mud: pigments, gemstones, pearls, and all plant life without which I would be able to make next to nothing.

I source my material from all over the world. Pearls, pigments, mixed media elements, or clay, all are international in origin by necessity. We live in a connected and interconnected world and I have always emphasized that in my work.
