About

Hi there!

I'm Lydia, I am a painter and mixed media artist, currently living and working in Appleton, WI.

The series of work you can find in my shop today, entitled "The Paint Chip Series, began with a trip to the hardware store and ended in my art studio. I was initially drawn to the paint chips, as most people are, because of their luscious, saturated color. Beautiful, bright color has always been a feature within my artwork, so it was only natural that I felt the desire to paint something on these colorful little paint chips. My first paint chip painting was of an olive on a paint chip called "Shopping Bag," and though I did not consider the paint chip name at first, I quickly decided that the paint chip name was just as important as the color. From then on I continued the series basing all of my subject matter on a literal or sometimes conceptual translation of the color name. I have been working on this series for a little over a year now, and am constantly thrilled by the possibilities and challenges this series creates for me.

All of the paint chip paintings are acrylic and come mounted on card stock and framed. If you have any questions about my work or would like to commission a specific "Paint Chip Painting," please feel free to message or email me!
