About

Welcome home, 1924...

Remember when you would walk into a bakery, talk to the man behind the counter, he would greet you with his burly mustache lifting as he smiled at you? You would ask for a fresh loaf of baked Rosemary, he would gleefully wrap up the loaf in a brown paper, tying it off with a frayed rope... or perhaps you walked into the shoe peddler's store. There you would fine neatly woodcut molds fitting leathers and buckles so that walking the streets would not only be comfortable but classy as well. They cost you nearly 2 dollars and it had been your days' wages. Maybe you went into a nearby library founded on old brick and weathered wood, you found a good leather or wood bound journal and read while you sipped on hot rum. Beyond that, photographers were outside, artists, people of all sorts of craft were making, and living their lives, with an indistinguishable pride. That is how 1924, the soul of Lyla&Blu.com, came into being. We wanted to create a progressive environment that would evoke the modest good in craft that birthed in the early 20th century. That the things we make, and the process behind it, are molded with a certain pride and humble artistic expression... From old cameras to worn leathers, we take the broken and tired and shine them in a new light, sending them to great homes! As-is or re-purposed, these historic and handcrafted beauts are longing for a home; to represent the pride and good of craft in the generations of the late 19th to mid 20th century.

Welcome home.
