About

It's a form of bliss and being in the "zone" that drives me back to my easel

My earliest memory of creating art was from when I was just a baby with crayons in hand, as I staked out my next drawing surface.

Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, I could no longer resist the lure of adventure and moved to New York City in the early 80’s. Becoming a serious painter was slowly starting to seed in me with visits to the Soho District and being so taken by the art world there.

Art class was always where I was happiest and excelled at in school, but in my early adult life I kept it as an occasional hobby.

After a one-year stint in New York as a secretary, I then moved to Boston, where I then tried my hands as a real estate agent. Feeling stifled for much too long, I enrolled in a life drawing class at night, which reignited that joyful feeling I forgot about. I could no longer resist my true calling and went back to school.

Taking advantage of a fine art education at The New England School of Art and Design in Boston, and at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts in the late 80’s, I then returned to my home turf in Santa Barbara. There I displayed my paintings at the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts show for many years.

My most recent milestone is to have eleven of my paintings as permanent fixtures at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and two other hospitals on the Central Coast. I feel that to have my work on public display and the recognition is wonderful, but what gives me the most gratitude is in knowing my art will be a contribution in evoking messages of hope and healing for the patients, visitors, and staff of these institutions for many generations to come.

I'm now settled in Ventura, California and have been enthusiastically getting outdoors with my easel to paint and capture my new surroundings, which are now showing up in some of my new works.

Lastly, thanks for reading this far! I wish for you to get an inspiration and a joy from my work like I did in creating it. I'm also honored to be part of this community {Etsy}, that is bursting with talent, inspiration, diversity and support from people like you.

All the best to you!
