Beating on metal is a most cathartic therapy I've discovered. Drawing on my passion for collecting art all my life, one-of-a-kind creations is most gratifying for me. Add to that the fire and flame, the molten silver, the peaceful sculpting of warm wax, and the acrid smell of metal on my hands and I'm in ecstasy and at harmony with my world.
Early on I began with the process of silver metal clay and firing it -- watching as it miraculously becomes 99.9% pure silver...And then I discovered forging! Whoa! Beating on metal was better than paying a psychiatrist. Finally, my metal arts teacher Courtney Gray, coaxed me into lost wax carving and casting and I've found my way.
Jewelry design and fabrication is a tremendously fun and rewarding adventure. The physicality of it is insanely provocative and then you have the excitement of the fire! Seeing my pieces come to life graciously fulfills ancient roots in my soul.
In 2005 I lived a bi-coastal life in Santa Monica, CA (Los Angeles on the beach!), in South Carolina, and in 2011 moved to Austin, Texas. Then 2020 happened and I now find myself in Oregon!
Not sure who said it first, but without a doubt, "Thoughts Become Things".
