I requested that Lynne paint us two watercolors of Iris' blooming for our new home. She gave us choices, shipped and received all within one week. Awesome job!

About

How it all began...

As the saying goes, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Several years ago life gave me a bag full of lemons and through it all my lemonade turned out to be painting. I’ve always been a creative person, but I didn’t express it through drawing and painting, mainly because I didn’t think I could draw or paint. But suddenly, during this very difficult time, a latent gift sprang out of me that turned into a passion that keeps growing. I believe this gift is from God even though it took me a long time to discover it. Because this was a late-blooming experience, I had no time to waste. I took many classes at a local Art Institute and was fortunate to be mentored by a professional abstract artist for 2 ½ years.

Painting for me is like breathing. Sometimes I’m aware of it and sometimes I don’t even know I’m doing it. All I know is that it is essential and necessary to my life.
.
My desire is to create something that connects deep within the observer. I once had someone walk into my studio (aka my kitchen) and instantly remark that a certain painting made her happy. She later called me and said, “I have to have it.” That experience made me realize that once a painting is done, it’s out of my hands waiting to resonate and be defined by whoever sees it. In a way the whole process is a mystery and I relish being a part of it.

I also enjoy, in fact it's almost like a yearning, to do detail work. I guess I'm all over the board when it comes to art. I've tried to focus on one thing but the more I paint and experiment, inspiration takes over and I'm off in a new direction. I was talking to my daughter one day about my lack of continuity. And her answer was, "it's because you're schizophrenic when it comes to your art." So there you are...

Which brings me to my other passion. In the last few years, this creative energy has spilled over into jewelry making. And from time to time you will see jewelry of various sorts featured here. Right now I’m experimenting with handmade beads which begin with painting and move forward from there. I also love collecting beads from around the world. So those too may find their way here as an original, one of kind creation.

I can now say, after all these years, I'm grateful for my bag of lemons. It put me on my present path that is both exciting and at times unknown. I am also grateful to have found Etsy and those who have purchased my work. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
